⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ American Express Centurion Lounge – Miami (Gate D12)

Located near Gate D12, this lounge is beautiful — modern, spacious, and definitely one of the nicer Centurion Lounges I’ve been to. The seating along the huge windows is a highlight. Sitting there watching nonstop American Airlines activity on the runway is oddly relaxing and a great way to kill time before a flight.

The lounge itself is large, with two bars and two food buffet stations, so there’s plenty of room to sit, eat, and unwind. Food was solid, drinks were good, and the wine and cocktail selection didn’t disappoint.

Staff were friendly and professional, though you can tell they’re under pressure dealing with the volume of guests. We traveled during a holiday weekend, so there was a waitlist — about 30–40 minutes before we were allowed in. Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm now with airport lounges everywhere.

Once inside, we still had a great time relaxing, eating, and having drinks. The only real letdown was the bar situation. Even though there are two bars, only one bartender was working the full-service cocktail bar, which meant long waits for drinks due to the crowd.

Overall, a very nice lounge and a comfortable place to spend time before a flight. With better crowd control and more bartenders during peak hours, this would easily be a 5-star experience. For now, a solid 4 stars.

One of the bigger centurion lounges , if not possibly the biggest one ? Front desk service was nice and inviting. Bartending staff was great. I see this location offers shower reservations but did not use them. As usual the food selection was varying and high quality. Much better than the Turkish Lounge food we had earlier. As normal it’s a hit or miss for seating but such is life at an airport. Only thing that might need fixing is the charging outlets on the floor did not work in a general region , so not sure if maybe just a tripped breaker or intentionally turned off. Save yourself time and pre check in thru the Amex app to save wait time for the waitlist.

I always appreciate the concept of an airport lounge, a calm oasis away from the main terminal, somewhere to relax, recharge devices, enjoy refreshments, and prepare for a flight in comfort.

However, on this occasion, the American Express Lounge was unfortunately extremely busy. The queue to even gain entry was exceptionally long, and the atmosphere inside felt very crowded and noisy. Rather than the peaceful retreat one hopes for, it felt more like an extension of the terminal itself.

The staff, I must say, were doing their very best under pressure and remained professional and courteous throughout, which is commendable. But when a lounge reaches capacity to this degree, it does rather lose the exclusivity and tranquillity that cardmembers expect.

Airport lounges should offer calm, space, and comfort — particularly for those travelling frequently or working on the move. I do hope capacity management can be improved during peak times, as the overall experience has so much potential when numbers are controlled.

As always, it’s about standards… and managing expectations.

Overall: If you qualify for access, the Centurion Lounge at Miami International Airport offers a noticeable upgrade from the typical gate area with food, cocktails, and amenities designed to help you unwind, work, or refuel before departure.

Food & Drinks

The lounge features a complimentary buffet. Drinks are a standout — from crafted cocktails to good coffee and wine — making it a pleasant retreat compared with other lounges in the airport.

Seating & Comfort

There are multiple seating areas with tarmac views and ample natural light, ideal for both work and relaxation. Recent expansions have added more seating, though it can still feel busy during peak hours.

Amenities

Useful extras include high-speed Wi-Fi, shower suites (great if you’ve had a long travel day), a family room, and charging areas all thoughtful touches that elevate the wait time before a flight.

Service & Cleanliness

Experiences vary. Many guests find staff helpful and friendly, but others note crowding and occasional cleanliness issues especially in bathrooms or food areas during busy periods.

‍ ‍ Atmosphere & Crowding

Because MIA is a major international hub, the lounge can fill up quickly. It’s still a step up from standard seating areas, but during certain parts of the day it feels busy and a bit chaotic. Arriving early helps secure quieter spots.

✈️ Would I Return?

Yes — overall it’s a comfortable, upscale layover experience that’s worth the visit if you have access. The elevated food and drinks, plus amenities like showers and Wi-Fi, make it significantly more enjoyable than the gate waiting area despite occasional crowding.

The American Express Centurion Lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA) stands out as a true oasis, offering an elevated escape from the usual airport chaos. Stepping inside, the atmosphere is immediately apparent—it is genuinely classy and incredibly relaxing, making it the perfect prelude to any journey.
One of the major highlights is the exceptional culinary and beverage service. The buffet-style food is consistently delicious, offering a gourmet spread that far surpasses typical lounge fare. Coupled with this is the bar service, which boasts a wide and impressive variety of alcoholic beverages. Whether you’re looking for a carefully crafted cocktail or a fine wine, the options available make it a truly premium experience.
The lounge is designed to be a highly enjoyable and relaxing space, though its popularity does come with one minor caveat. During peak hours, it can sometimes be crowded, occasionally leading to no immediate seat availability. This is often due to the fact that people simply want to stay longer than necessary—a testament to how excellent the lounge truly is.
Despite the potential for peak hour busy-ness, the Centurion Lounge at MIA is an absolutely phenomenal benefit. It offers a level of service, quality, and tranquility that makes it well worth arriving early for.

This lounge is usually crowded. My recent experience was the first time there was a long line to enter. The line moved fast though, less than 5 minute wait time. Once inside, I had a difficult time finding a solo seat but was able to find one at the high top area. The food & service is always pretty good at this lounge. I’d only recommend coming to this lounge if you’re flying American as it’s right in the middle of the gates that American Airlines utilizes. Otherwise, you’ll have a lengthy walk/commute to and from that you’d have to account for.

The lounge was pretty crowded, but honestly, that was to be expected. It was impossible trying to find seats for a family of 5. It seemed like every solo traveling patron wanted to take up an entire table- or fully extend onto a multi seating area. Thankfully there was additional seating tucked away by the reception desk- that place was quiet, comfortable, and a perfect spot for a large group.

My recommendation is to have solo traveler seating that is more of a bar stool type setup- but with comfortable chairs. That, and don’t allow people to stretch fully out and sleep during busy hours of the day- specifically in the main lobby. It’s just rude.

Besides that- the food was great! There was a big selection of healthy foods, snack foods, and drinks!

Absolutely horrendous experience this morning. I have been all over the world and a lot of lounges and never experienced anything like what happened today. I have attached a photo of the line to EXIT the lounge, that is not a typo. I was able to enter the lounge no problem, upon entering there was an extraordinarily long line to get to the 1 and only tiny breakfast buffet. That line took almost 20 minutes, then just as we were getting to the front, an announcement was made that there was a long line to exit the lounge (again see photo). Our plane was due to board in 15 minutes. I have never ever had a line to leave a lounge, so we didn’t account for that and the workers were indignant, uncaring, and downright rude about the circumstances. They would not let us take the stairs, even when we showed them the plane had begun boarding and we were still waiting in line to leave. When we finally got out, we had to sprint 20 gates just to make the plane with the last boarding group. The centurion lounge is supposed to take the stress out of travel. You need to fire the employees and manager of this lounge and get people who know how to run a lounge properly. Straight up unacceptable.

I absolutely love this lounge! The attendants are very friendly… the bartender knows how to pour, and the food is always fresh. They are very quick when it comes to cleaning, so there isn’t a wait for table availability. This is probably my favorite lounge by far…
