I’ve been a repeat offender to this establishment for a number of years. I’ve returned this evening, 23FEB2026 after a 2.5 yr absence. Tuna melt was recommended and it was accompanied by a side of chili and an iced tea. It was shared the tuna wasn’t canned but, fresh and made by their own in-house staff. It was excellent. The chili was good and the place hasn’t changed at all, perfect! A true locals joint but, I’ve never felt unwelcome while enjoying evening chow and an adult libation. If your in the area, it’s definitely worth giving them a shot. Small business support means more today than ever.

First time here on a Sunday evening. Tons of tvs with multiple sports going on. Not a bad view anywhere if you want to watch the game. They are Bay Area sports team friendly. Parking was super easy when we got there. No host of greeter near the door but someone directed us of an available table for our group of 4. After a few minutes, someone brought us menus and we saw a decent beer and drink selection including many draft options. Someone else came to take the drink order then another 5 minutes before we ordered food. Service seemed casual at best. We ordered a burger with onion rings, Chinese salad, a melt, and chili cup. All were pretty standard fare, but I did enjoy the salad and chili. Maybe save a bit and get on the side for $1.50. Cup is around $6. We would def come back to watch other future games and maybe try different food options or the appetizer menu. Lots of choices.

American Bull is a solid sports bar serving up refreshing drinks and tasty food! This recent trip was actually my second time here, though the first was sometime between 7-10 years ago.

LOCATION:
Its home is within the Burlingame Plaza, next door to a Lunardi’s grocery store. It’s located directly across from the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center on the corners of Trousdale and El Camino Real.

PARKING:
There generally is enough parking, though you may have to walk a bit further depending on the time of day and how busy it is. The lot and area seem safe, even at night when other things in the shopping center have closed down.

INSIDE:
We went on a Sunday evening, around 6pm to watch the Sunday Night Football game. It was actually pretty busy, though there was some bar and highboy seating as well as a couple tables still available. We went with the traditional table because the older we get, the more we appreciate back support.

There are TVs EVERYWHERE. Most of the walls are lined with TVs, playing a variety of sports, but mostly whatever’s local or the “main game”. It’s also pretty loud.

There is a lot of cool sports memorabilia. They have a whole Giants corner, in addition to lots of Niners autographed jerseys, helmets, and footballs. There’s also a wall with dozens of autographed baseballs. We took some time to look at the names, and noticed plenty of Hall of Famers!

DRINKS:
Their drink menu consists of 10+ white wine, 6 red wine, and 2 sparkling wine options available by the glass or the bottle.

They have bottled beer (domestic, imports, and microbrew) and cans (White Claw, High Noon, Wyder’s Pear Cider, Ace Joker apple cider, and Guinness). They also have a couple non-alcoholic beer options, and other non-alcoholic options (coffee, tea, Pepsi products, juice, and Arnold Palmers).

They also have over a dozen beers on tap, as well as a full bar that can provide shots and likely make most cocktails.

Prices for most drinks are actually quite reasonable for the area—on par with a sports bar more than a fancy restaurant.

FOOD:
Their menu is surprisingly large. For appetizers they have a lot of typical bar food options (fries, onion rings, potato skins, mozzarella sticks, wings, chicken tenders, sliders, quesadillas, tacos, and even Lumpia).

There is a section with half a dozen tasty sounding salads, available in full or half sized portions. There is also a separate section for their chili, which is served in a cup or bowl, with shredded cheese, chopped onion, sour cream, and fresh jalapenos.

The sandwich portion of the menu is 10+ deep with options like burgers, a patty melt, Philly cheese steak, grilled and Buffalo fried chicken, salmon, BLT, and even a hotdog or polish dog (technically not a sandwich)!

The entree section looks bomb too, with items like BBQ ribs, NY steak, grilled or blackened salmon, linguini, chicken parm, ravioli, and meatballs. I love that this section has an Italian flair, and want to come back to try things like the chicken parm!

This recent trip we went with friends and split a few things amongst the groups. I got the patty melt, with a side of chili. The melt was solid, not spectacular. I would have liked the grilled onions cooked a little more. The chili was also good, not great. We got all the accoutrements on the side, which allowed us to try it on its own first, then add as we go. Our friends ordered a Chinese chicken salad, and a burger basket with onion rings. They both finished their meals and noted that they enjoyed them!

OVERALL:
While this is basically a bar, it’s also a restaurant. There were several children under the age of 10 running around screaming that were part of larger groups. Not sure if there’s a specific time when minors are no longer allowed…

The service was friendly enough, and the bathrooms were clean when we went. This is for sure a great spot to grab a drink, bite to eat, and watch a sports game or 3!

Nice little local dive bar. Good prices & food menu. Good service. Several TV’s with variety of games. They aired the game I want to watch. I’m a tourist & it was a nice little place to come to watch the games. Good customer service from many of the staff. They had a nice TV outside which was nice for fresh air & a beautiful day because the inside is a dark place. Kinda cramped inside. A lot of locals which was cool. Over all would recommend.

This bar is great for their selection of drinks & food. The value here is really good, two entrees, an appetizer and four drinks only came to $75, large portioned food and good tasting. The service is always top-notch. We visited on a weekday (yesterday) and it was unusually busy, but the chap running the floor wasn’t perturbed, juggling multiple tables and still taking the time to explain the drinks & menu. We visit every now and then and we’re never disappointed. It’s filled with screens for watching various sports, and they run the cali hot spots game which adds a bit of fun to your evening if you fancy a small flutter.

The food was bland. It needed salt. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was good but needed more meat. The nachos were flavorless but pretty to look at. The chili cheese fries looked good but tasted like some fabuloso was on something the food was prepared with. The chili cheese fries also needed work. I liked the friendly atmosphere. I really enjoyed the sound system for the Superbowl. The staff kept forgetting about us because we were in the corner. I like the bar but it needs better more flavorful food like carne asada fries, a better chili recipe, better nachos with refried beans. But again, the friendly environment and the sports fans made it very enjoyable ❤️

Quiet outside but pretty loud inside. This is definitely a neighborhood sports bar. Lots of sport memorabilia and TVs on the walls and a long bar area. We’re told that there is no happy hour menu except for a dollar off selected beers. Expect to wait a while for your order to be taken and to pay your check(a bit short of staffed). The food selection and portions are nice for a sports bar. We had the NY steak, half rack of ribs. Ribs are on the dry side. Side of onion rings. No bbq sauce selection. Draft beer selection is nice, they even had Pliney the Elder.

I am not one to eat Burgers but my husband is obsessed and we always share a plate but this was not just a burger it was amazing! Juicy and perfectly cooked and the onion rings are yummy . My mom really enjoyed her philly steak sandwich and our appetizer was the green beans I forgot to take a picture but they didn’t last . Our waiter was the best! He needs a raise, the place was packed but my husband was in love with all the sports! The service amazing the food bomb and the environment top notch! Perfect place to kick back have a few beers and enjoy each other’s company.

I decided to stop by this local sports bar. Fairly empty when I came in. Packed by the time I left. Good menu selections. Weekend breakfast options. They even offer mystery shots. I had the steak and eggs.
The bartender/server Freddie was super nice and attentive. Prices are on point. Especially for the location. Food was ok. Nothing extremely special but the customer service was superb!
