I know I’ve said this before for another place, but The American Bar truly does have the best burgers I’ve had so far in Montana, and I’ve had my fair share of burgers throughout Montana! The atmosphere reminds you of an old western saloon but with TVs! Awesome!! Get the double smashburger!!

Best burger in Montana!! Sandwiches are terrific and with plenty of your favorite meats, the roast beef and turkey are roasted in house The way it should be an add a very reasonable price!! The people are so kind and I love how it’s decorated. The environment is fun with music and it’s beautiful inside. I will definitely be back over and over and Thursday night is Taco and Mexican night it’s starts at 4pm so I would definitely be there for that!!

Nice out-of-the-way bar. Quaint rustic appeal with a friendly staff. I had a burger and fries for lunch that I would rate almost average, could be better, could be worse. Not so bad I wouldn’t go back however.

Wonderful bar with a really friendly atmosphere and service. Great stop for a quick drive out of town. The had the spicy bacon cheeseburger, it was most excellent!

Enjoyed a Saturday watching a football game, then went to the American bar because I have always heard so much about. Lots of nostalgia, very friendly staff, enjoyed a kicked up French dip with Burger Meister onion rings. French dipwith generous amount of roast beef pepperoncini peppers and creamed horseradish was outstanding. Looking for a reason to get back that way as it is a little bit off the beaten path, might just have to make an afternoon drive.

Went to the American bar today, December 15, 2024 with my buddy Ron Udall for lunch. Absolutely Fantastic!
Ron had the cheeseburger and fries while I had the 1/2 combo sliced meat sandwich and fries. Wow! Fries are homemade from real potatoes. Not frozen.
Ron devoured his cheeseburger and I only managed to eat 1/2 of a 1/2 order. I’m a big dude 6’2″ 325. Had to bring 1/2 my fries home as well.
The youg couple now running this very old establishment understand and appreciate the history of the American Bar and are really doing a great job.
They need our support and patronage.
The next time you are wondering where to go for lunch or dinner, please give the American Bar a try.

Great place to stop for a meal. Their giant pretzel appetizers are amazing (almost a meal on their own), and their homemade bacon jam is worth going out of your way to try it. It tastes fantastic on their cheeseburgers.

Been coming to the American for 42yrs, came as a child and created amazing memories and now I am doing the same with my kids. Great food, and even better people. Try the giant pretzel or the famous “Pat’s Sandwich” you won’t need lunch tomorrow!

My husband and I found a hidden little gem in rural Montana for sure!
They were definitely short staffed but the bar tender and the cook pulled it off! Such nice people great costumer service. Shannon and Shad way to go! I think you two deserve a raise! Some of the best food we have had in a long time! Will definitely be heading back again sometime soon!

Great update! Fresh, exciting, but local and real. The local owners have a passion and commitment to their customers. It shows on their work and hospitality. This is the best little bar and restaurant in the region. You won’t be disappointed. Make the effort!
