Amelia’s Exquisite Mexican Dining is our first of two locations in Hillsboro. We are located in downtown Hillsboro, and are a family-owned restaurant that concentrates on serving our rustic, family recipes from our Mexican heritage. You will find a fresh basket of house-made chips and salsa, or some of our house-made corn tortillas when you arrive to welcome you. Choose from our 95% gluten-free menu of Mexican dishes, as well as some vegetarian and vegan options. We offer catering and delivery through UberEats, and have a great rating on Google and Yelp. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Absolutely awesome place for delicious, authentic Mexican food. The tortillas were SUPER authentic and handmade right there. Meats (flatiron steak & chicken) were superbly flavored & grilled. Even the refried beans were wonderfully seasoned. The place could use an adjustment to its bright white lighting, but otherwise highly recommend a meal here for the food and great service!

As a Mexican I can assure you they offer HORRIBLE FOOD, HORRIBLE COFFEE, we came in a Saturday for lunch, the ladies were really nice, I can’t complain about that, but the food…that’s another story.
We ordered:
– Tacos Dorados…Big plate, but the most important thing…no flavor, we’ll, yeah, they had a greasy taste.
Rice and beans were okay.
– Huevos con chorizo… we didn’t know if it was really chorizo, or what? LOL…no flavor..disgusting. I wanted to return the food but my husband didn’t let me .
The coffee ☕️ HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE watery taste.
And they are dishonest, they show one price on the menu and when they bring you the bill, each item is $.52 -.$.62 cents more, plus if you pay with debit or credit card, you have to pay $2.00 extra. Plus the tip. So, think before you go. On my side, we’ll never go back again to Amelia’s, and will tell all my friends also the very bad experience.

Ah-mazing Mexican cuisine. We got to talk to the owner who told us about the history of her menu and how she loves to change it up to include dishes from all regions throughout Mexico. I was so happy with my lunch. Our table ordered the chicken tamales, cochinita pibil, and carne arrrachera. I tried it all as “Mom tax” it was all delicious. I have tried varios mexican spots locally, but this surpasses them all.

I can’t believe I’ve lived in Hillsboro for years and never had Amelia’s. So good! Dined in for Valentine’s Day. Had the shrimp and fish taco plate. Flavor was amazing with house made fresh corn tortillas, so satisfying. I wish the cutlery was in better shape and the lights dimmer but other than that the service A+ Food A+. I can’t wait to come back again. I think if they made the vibe a little more romantic it would be A++.

Fantastic food. We tried several things. We ordered a couple of extra items just to try them. I love their hand-made corn tortillas, which were great paired with anything. If you haven’t eaten here yet, you have to try it.

Maybe I have too high of expectations but I have been to many Mexican restaurants from California all the way through the coast to Washington and never had been stopped from getting more salsa without a $2.00 charge, these bowls are pretty small to be charging $2.00 for another mini bowl of salsa.
Let’s add this up.
The atmospheres is only as good as the service, and the service is very poor! Did not get more chips, had to ask, did not get any more salsa I had to ask, needed salt had to ask. If the service is poor, then the atmosphere is poor! Then we have to look at the food. One of the reasons I needed more salsa is because the food was slightly dry so I wanted the salsa to pour over the burrito and the rice to have a little bit more flavor, The rice was pretty bland. This was our third attempt because I was optimistically thinking this place has to be better than my last visit but it’s very very disappointing!
How does this place have such a decent rating with a guy that doesn’t even engage with customers and good being pretty bland.
If you’re new here to Hillsboro there are better places to eat than here.
Try Peppers Mexican grill on Baseline, good food and very friendly staff.
Don’t waist your money or time for dinner.
Maybe a good quick lunch place at best not to expecting service or tasty food.
The owner SEEMS to care with his responses but see reviews, he doesn’t take accountability for experiences.
He also dismisses many many low star reviews as if it only one opinion but there are too many to ignore. Also I never ask for free food I just describe what I see and taste but this owner again is trying to excuse my low star review as a reason to ignore.
Also my wife’s stomach did not feel good when we got home and honestly either does mine!
Both the locations are mediocre at best.
This review is not to put this place down it is just an opinion of mid to low quality service and low quality taste.
There are places I highly recommend as they have GREAT service and good to great food like the Margarita factory. The service is amazing there and UNLIMITED salsa if you want it. The server named Blas will become your best friend. Other restaurants really care about great customer service. Unlike Amelia’s who our server stopped the kind lady from bringing us more salsa.
I have over 72 million views of my photos so there must be some credibility to what I see and write. I have never thought of myself as a food critic I am just your normal guy who loves good food and good service.
Cannot recommend this place.

At this point I cannot recommend this place unless you are very hungry and want a large burrito to eat.

Food was good but not great. Server was ok, not super friendly. I ordered the vegan burrito and it was barely warm inside. The guacamole, once delivered was watery and under seasoned. No need to return.

During our visit to see family in the neighborhood, we stumbled upon this restaurant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the staff can speak limited English but are friendly.
The food was quite satisfactory, especially the chicken soup, and I was impressed to see fellow diners eat a two-pound burrito.
However, I think it’s important for them to list the price of the large margarita on the menu, as we were surprised by the additional cost at the end of the meal. One nice aspect of the restaurant is that even when dining with a group, everyone can pay separately. Overall, it’s an excellent spot for lunch.
