Ambassadors Clubhouse – London – a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant
Reviews
The menu is thoughtful and exciting, with dishes that feel both elevated and comforting. Every item we tried was beautifully executed, with bold yet well-balanced flavors.
That said, our first impression at the front door was unfortunately disappointing. On arrival, Melanie told us quite abruptly that there was a £500 minimum spend for our table of six. While we completely understand and respect restaurant policies, the way this was communicated felt unnecessarily rude and lacked sensitivity, especially after we explained that amongst 6 we were two infants (8 months and 13 months old) and therefore couldn’t realistically commit upfront. Despite our explanation, her tone remained firm and unwelcoming.
Thankfully, an Indian gentleman who appeared to be the manager stepped in promptly, handled the situation with warmth and professionalism, and invited us in without any issue. From that moment on, the experience improved significantly. Ironically, we ended up spending very close to the £500 anyway. Later, Melanie from the entrance did come to our table to apologize, which we appreciated, though we chose not to engage further with her.
Overall, Ambassador Clubhouse is a place we would absolutely return to for the food, the ambience, and the excellent service once inside. We do hope, however, that future visits begin on a more welcoming note.
A good friend of ours recommended we visit TACH, he is an Indian cuisine enthusiast, and he spoke highly of this place.
Well, first of all, the atmosphere is unmatched.
Rich, very rich and kitsch, but designed with an amazing taste and attention to detail. The restaurant is amazingly beautiful and we spent a lovely time while having dinner at the counter/ bar.
Then Service is worth mentioning too.
Our host Carlos did a perfect job throughout our time there. Particularly appreciated him getting my wife a mango lassi and some yogurt, free of charge, so she could balance and handle the spice of the meal. Menu recommendations were also very sharp and adapted to us. Thank you CF
The menu is beautiful, from signature cocktails to food in general.
All made with a good amount of taste, beautiful ingredients, and sharp seasoning.
I like my butter chicken a bit more on the sweeter side and slightly creamier too, but that is personal taste so I’m not complaining.
We will be back and we are looking forward to try the feast menu next time !
The restaurant, once you enter, looks very small. But looks are deceiving as there’s a long galleried dining area towards the back and there is more seating area downstairs including private dining spaces. The entire decor is beautiful, tasteful but has been done with a lot of investment, right down to the quality of the washrooms, where piped music also reaches.
We chose to visit mid-week at lunch time and although the weather was pretty decent the restaurant was not massively busy. We opted for the set lunch. We normally don’t because they quite often are a bit ‘meh’ but in this case there was genuinely something for each of the three of us. We wondered whether the two-course choice that each of us opted for might leave us a bit short so we ordered a biryani to share to top it up. Boy were we wrong! The two-course set lunch was more than enough for us and we ended up having to take pretty much all of the biryani home – though that made for a delicious dinner.
Each of our choices was excellent. The seek kebabs were super although I didn’t get much of a taste of ajwan. I’m not a fan of rabbit but the minced rabbit cheela was superb. Both this and the seekh kebabs were bursting with flavour as was the bread that accompanied the chola. There were a couple of naans that came with the mains – a generous portion though I probably prefer Gymkhana’s naans to this Punjabi variant. The chicken burrah was excellent but our favourite was the prawn lababdar. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. A great experience.
The ambience is classy, warm, and welcoming, giving the place a premium feel while still remaining comfortable and relaxed. It’s the kind of restaurant where you feel dressed just right, whether you’re celebrating something special or simply enjoying a great time.
The food was excellent. The chicken dishes were incredibly tender and juicy, full of flavour and clearly well-cooked. The naan was a highlight for me—soft on the inside with a light crisp on the outside, fresh and absolutely delicious. Every bite felt satisfying and thoughtfully prepared. The staff’s service was excellent and was always keen to ask if we needed anything else how the food was. They even let a golden retriever (service dog) to be with his owner inside exceptionally usually pets were not allowed in this high-end but not highly-priced restaurant. The background music makes you want to dance a little ☺️
Overall, Ambassadors Clubhouse delivers both quality food and a sophisticated dining experience at a reasonable price point. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Punjabi and Pakistani flavours in a refined yet affordable setting.
In terms of the dishes, I would definitely recommend the prawn koftas and the BBQ butter chicken chops, as they were particularly good and full of flavour.
Overall, the food was good quality and well cooked, but it is on the expensive side. It is comparable to Dishoom in terms of overall quality, though slightly pricier and with a stronger Punjabi and Pakistani influence across the menu. Good food, but at a premium price.
We loved the whole decor and authentic north Indian experience.
When it came to food, we opted for kebabs, paneer tikka and cheese pakode.
The ma ki Dal was my highlight since black Dal always requires to be cooked in a specific way and brings out a rich and creamy taste, this was just perfection. We were very surprised about the quality of the Amritsari kulcha ,which reminded us of Amritsar.
Chana biryani was great to end it with.
To sum up, it’s an excellent experience visiting this restaurant, great vibe and good music on background usually.
Cannot wait to return for more.
Menu names and explanations were difficult in our opinion that we had to ask many questions to understand the menu structure and options and how to order, we felt the set menu was complicated rather than straightforward. There are no images or any sort of illustration on portions and quantities in the menu. Simply the menu should make ordering the food easy, rather leading to questions.
The food was tasty and mastered definitely which is the most important thing in a restaurant, portions were generous which is what to expect for the price tag. Many items in the menu had different names yet they are the basic South Asian items. We asked the food to be mild and were informed that can’t be possible but we can have yogurt with the food to regulate the spiciness level. I genuinely think a restaurant with such standard should be able to provide the whole spectrum of spiceness levels rather than recommend yogurt on the side, and the worst but the yogurt was charged, which felt silly.
So many waiters around filling water cups after some sips yet the food was very delayed to be served, and there was no pattern what so ever. Some of the order came first and then had to wait good 20-30 mins for the rest of the food to be served.
The general vibe was in the dark end, would been great if it was slightly brighter. Toilets exceptionally clean and tidy and general design is extremely taken care of.
Only being harsh as simple things were not done right and due to additional unnecessary charges. Will come back again for another experience maybe in the future and to further solidify my review.
Each dish was so different and flavourful, and we were always exited for the next one. The food on the pricier side, but the portion sizes were definitely generous, and we left completely stuffed.
A very nice touch with a little birthday kulfi that just hit the spot. Overall I would definitely recommend coming here for special occasions, and good lunch options too.
Food:
– Raj Kachori chaat – Great presentation, creamy and delicious filling. Only gripe was that the shell might have been slightly stale.
– Keema naan with bone marrow – Couldn’t fault it. Yummy filling, while still have a really crispy exterior. And the bone marrow masala was great for dipping
– Lamb chops – Huge, tender, spicy, tangy. Probably the highlight of the dishes.
– Achari chicken – tender chicken thighs, tangy and pickly gravy
– Butter naan – huge, crispy and buttery. Some of the nicest naan I’ve had.
We arrived without a reservation, and despite that, the team went above and beyond to accommodate us, and they did. That level of willingness and care already sets the tone for what follows and speaks volumes about their service culture.
Jasmeet’s attention was truly outstanding. Every recommendation was spot on, explained with confidence and care, and his attitude toward my family was warm, genuine, and incredibly professional. You can immediately sense when someone truly enjoys serving others and creating memorable experiences.
The food is delicious, beautifully executed, and full of flavor. Every dish we tried met and exceeded expectations. The desserts deserve a special mention, absolutely incredible and the perfect way to close an already fantastic meal.
Without a doubt, Ambassadors Clubhouse has earned a spot on my top five restaurants list. A place I will happily return to and confidently recommend
So I mixed up my reservations and booked for last night but she was still able to accommodate as we had come a long way to get this particular venue.
We got a mango lassi on the house as they mentioned they had to debit a cancellation charge from me. I spoke with the Manager and after mentioning that I had a critical hospital appointment where I showed him the evidence he refunded the full charge (£100) which was quite considerate given the circumstances.
Onto the food… Really unexpected… Better than expected! Large portions for a Michelin star Indian and loveable home cooked food served and cooked in the clay pot. The lamb biryani was wholesome and slow cooked from the Dum (dough on the top) decent amount of meat and rich in flavour, the chicken pilau was fluffy with that hint of saffron coming through, not dry and the chicken was tender and not overcooked. I ordered the lamb curry at mild and it was a thick base that went well with either rice dish. I also enjoyed the thick Raita with the rice krispies on the top that cleansed the palate after every bite.
I want to say thanks to the restaurant who had hosted us over the mixup and refunded the cancellation charge, the goodwill gesture towards my mixup and polite hospitality given to us lifted our experience which is hard to get sometimes when you attend these types of establishments, I highly recommend going here.
