Service here is exceptional. I had the menu explained from front to back by Tony, and I asked for recommendations and was given some great choices, most of which I went with. One of the items I was thinking about was gifted by the chef. The Scallops were particularly delectable, like nothing I’ve had. The salmon belly skewer melted in my mouth. Ceviche Amazonia came together nice…. I also tried the Lomo saltado and that was really good as well. The drinks were had my first Pisco Sour and El cacao was very good. I left stuffed and Ashley was amazing, making all of her tables feel special. I even got a follow-up email from Carly thanking me for visiting. This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in recent memory. I can’t wait to go back!
I tried the pisco sour and the Café Cusco, and both were great. Michael was incredible, super knowledgeable about the food and the history behind it, which really made the experience even better.
We sat on the outdoor patio, and it was a little cold even with the heaters and blankets, but that’s honestly the only downside I can think of. And the decor? It literally feels like an Amazonian wonderland- so cute and immersive. Overall, such an amazing time. Would absolutely go back.
The menu offers a contemporary interpretation of Peruvian cuisine rooted in both coastal and highland traditions. Seafood courses draw on classic ceviche through acidity and freshness, while highland influences appear in dishes built around tubers, grains, and slow-cooked preparations. Corn appears across the menu in multiple forms, moving from savory courses into dessert, including a purple corn ice cream.
Causa stands as the most elevated and creatively executed Peruvian dining experience in Washington, DC.
