We stopped here for dinner on our trip. I got a Stromboli that was pretty good. My wife got a Mac and cheese but it was Basically noodles with cheese on top. Her dish had absolutely no flavor. The kid at the register was really unhelpful and had a bad attitude. There is no seating so it is to go food only. I’m unsure if I would go back again but I am always willing to give places another chance.

My first Calzone experience, and I would definitely come back for one more. That one thing was big enough to suffice my hunger, super hot and delicious tbh…
The subs look also really good, all looks fresh and the ingredients were of good quality.
The improvement part:
Maybe timing, however they warn us it would take some time, so in a way you know what to expect and when!!??!!
From what I was able to see, there’s no Seating so you pretty much order to take out (you can order in advance).
Within the store you have a big selection of snacks, beverages, deserts and even a pre-made sandwich and salad selection (in case you are in a hurry).

Ordered my usual, small Real Ham Italian. I said “yes” when asked if I wanted salt, pepper & oil. This sandwich was subpar to what I typically receive. The black olives were canned instead of the usual Greek Olives. If they were out of them, they should have informed me so I could have had the option to omit them. The sandwich had no salt, pepper or oil, it was dry. Tasted nothing like an Amato’s Real Italian which now costs $7.12 for a small. Wasted my money, it was terrible. I ordered by phone & picked up my sandwich on Sunday, 11-16-2025 at approximately 1:30pm.

Returning to Maine this was my first stop and as always Amato’s Italians never disappoint, the bread was soft and fresh as were the vegetables. It’s been 6 years since I’ve had one and it did not disappoint. A very unique sandwich that nobody else makes as well.

Have been coming here for years. Have visited multiple locations, and it never disappoints. Had the Thanksgiving sandwich with was wonderful, but usually have the “Real Italian”.

What can I say they make great Italian sandwiches and they cut all your veggies fresh. They are located all over the state of Maine and I really feel like they are more popular than subway in Maine. The only thing I wish was for their bread to be a little more fresh, I have had really fresh bread from other Amatos locations and we were really looking forward to this sandwich. Don’t get me wrong still really good however, the bread just needed a little work.

Can’t beat a traditional Italian sandwich and whoopee pie from Amatos. Lovely.

10/10 mini pizzas on the ready to go station! I knew the Italians were a Maine staple but these mini pizzas are getting added to the list of must grab! Excellent service.

This is the best Amatos I have been to because the staff are extremely friendly and easy going.
Other Amatos give me a hard time if I don’t say my order in a specific way. Other Amatos have a staff that looks dead inside….NOT THIS ONE!
I definitely recommend this Amatos.

Used Uber Eats to order a large Italian and paid for extra pickles. Opened the sandwich and there’s not even enough pickles to cover the sandwich. Very disappointed, the pickles are the best part.
