Instead of booking a flight somewhere warm, I decided to treat myself to happy hour. Was left super satisfied! Mojito was absolutely refreshing & im tipsy off of just one hahaha. I had 3 dishes, all deliciously fresh & flavorful. Crispy shrimp was a knockout, papas bravados was oh so savory, and piononos was unique & complex. I’m so full – total was $38 + a 20% service charge bringing it to $49 with tax. Not bad at all for 3 dishes and a drink. Will bring a friend next time !

Vibe and service are wonderful. We went for the restaurant week menu. Everything was delicious, besides the Spanish octopus and the Churrasco (in my opinion). Spanish octopus was not crispy, but rather squishy on a base of beans (?). Maybe just not my taste, but we didn’t finish the dish. Churrasco could also just be a preference thing. But it was very heavy on a bed of masa porridge that tasted like a nothing-mush. However, the pork was spiced very well.

Had a phenomenal time at Amaru for Restaurant Week. From the time I hit the door the playlist was literally music to my ears with smooth R&B and Old School Hip-Hop. I was greeted warmly by the hostess and seated immediately while I waited for my guest. My server, Paola, was a beam of energy and light (and a good dancer too). She offered me a cocktail flight of daiquiri, margarita and Mama Juana…they were each equally delicious. Next came the 4 courses including ceviche, oxtail and rice, corn cake and chocolate tree leches. I will definitely be back again and hope Paola will be my server.

Holy smokes, so good! Came in for restaurant week and will for sure be back.
Get the bacon wrapped plantains and the lomo steak, both incredible!
I don’t remember it’s name but the whiskey drink with a sweet and cinnamon touch was my favorite of the two I tried, also would recommend.

The food was delicious and so were the drinks! The head bartender was great, he brought a fun and warm vibe to our dinner. We had a great night celebrating two birthdays here.

Came here for restaurant week and made a reservation through Resy. We arrived a few minutes early and they said they had overbooked our table and had to seat us at the bar instead. There were three other couples at the bar that this happened to tonight. We were still able to order the restaurant week menu at the bar and all of the food and drinks we got came out delicious and on time. Only giving 4 starts for service because they did not try to make up for overbooking our reservation in any capacity.

This establishment is a must! The food was really really really good! The drinks were good too. I did not get a great deal of pictures because as soon as the food got to the table we devoured it. Just take my word and go. Special shout out to Itzel, she made is feel so welcome, but the entire staff was warm and friendly as well.
Okay, here’s a list of what I know was tasty…Requeson, Sweet Plantains, Frita Cubana, Guatemalan Ribs, Piononos, Pastel DeEloce…

This is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why we are known for our dining scene. Everything from The energy to the food. Highlights for me were the Coconut Fried Rice, Bunuelos, Octopus and Ceviche. The guava cheesecake wow. And every cocktail was perfection. Service with a smile too. Perfect for any day of the week! @chicagopescetarian

Intimate and inviting, Amaru’s Latin cuisine was flavorful and an incredible taste journey. The piononos were bacon wrapped bursts of ecstasy , the softer textures crisped by the pork. Crawfish empanadas were beautifully presented and tasted even better than they looked. The service with Paula was great – energetic but respectful of the conversation my friends and I were enjoying. The drinks were delicious – not too powerful but not watered down. 5 stars! this quaint spot!
