The service was on point and we enjoyed the special room we got to sit in. This is an all-around outstanding restaurant where it seems you can’t go wrong!
I especially enjoyed the Blackened Ahi and corn fritters appetizers. The sauce on the Ahi was flavorful and had a nice kick to it without it being overwhelming. My wife had the Rustic chicken and I had the Marsala, both dishes were fantastic, tender, perfectly cooked chicken; and we were both huge fans of the marsala sauce.
The NA cocktails were sharp and sweet and the flavor from the NA gin was perceptible and welcomed to balance the drink.
I opted for a classic version of the Affogato, and while this was not strictly on the menu, my request was attended to with no fuss at all, and we received a complimentary plate of Ricotta doughnuts from the maître d.
For a first visit to the restaurant, we had an overwhelmingly exceptional experience, and will be making a return visit.
A big thanks to our waiting staff too, its unforgivable that I cannot recall her name, but she was delightfully unintrusive, whilst maintaining the right amount of attentiveness throughout the experience.
A real pleasure of of evening.
I ordered 2 plates of the ricotta doughnuts and just couldn’t finish them after the first two courses. Brought a 3rd order home for my wife along with the fried chicken sando, steak sando, and daily risotto.
All-in-all top notch spot.
Amaro’s is tucked away at 12th and Main in downtown Vancouver. We discovered it on a cold rainy night in 2022 and loved it from our first visit.
We haven’t often sat in the actual restaurant… we’re usually found perched up in the bar. The bartenders are all very friendly and service is on-point. They make a mean martini.
Their food is excellent, never had something I didn’t like. I particularly the chicken sandwich and marsala. Both are solid options. Their house salad + a side of ranch slaps!
They offer a reverse happy hour starting at 9pm, which we admittedly take advantage of quite often. This is one of the most consistent restaurants in all of Vancouver and comes highly recommended from us!
This was the last restaurant we visited during a visit from my father-in-law to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday and his 80th.
Even though we had a reservation, we waited an unusually long time (10-15 minutes) for our table.
When we were seated, a host offered to park my father-in-law’s walker so it wouldn’t obstruct the aisle.
There was a hand written birthday card waiting at the table.
Soon after we sat, the manager Christina came over to apologize for the wait and offer us a delicious bread and cheese platter.
Tana, our server, was a delight, very genuine and friendly and a total ‘Yes, and’ good sport about Chuck’s horrendous dad jokes. 🙂
I ordered the seasonal halibut and my wife ordered the risotto but asked for halibut instead of salmon.
When the food arrived, the kitchen had misread the order and made the regular halibut for both of us.
After checking in with us, Tana delivered the halibut and brought the risotto out later so that Jess wouldn’t have to wait to start eating.
Despite the hiccups, this was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time because every staff member we interacted with was so friendly, pleasant and genuinely caring. We were checked on regularly, and the host even came back to suggest a shorter and more accessible exit back to our car, because of all the construction on the street.
And yes, the food was amazing. The halibut with lemon cream sauce and capers was perfectly prepared, just the right amount of lemony, and not too many capers.
The risotto was creamy and salty in just the right ways, and the flavor and texture of the ribeye steak was excellent.
After dinner they surprised us with birthday desserts of cheesecake and crème brûlée, both perfect and delicious.
Christina escorted us back to the parking garage to make sure we didn’t take a wrong turn through the building.
It’s obvious that Amaro’s cultivates a culture of true service and that is unfortunately becoming more rare.
Thanks for an amazing and delicious evening.
Came here after some rock climbing with kids (across street from The Source). Real candles and flowers on the table had me worries… but They had kids menu and crayons, and staff was super nice and attentive to everyone.
Side note: Taking kids out to eat is frequently a waste of money – bad kids menu, meh food, kids dont eat it and then want 2nd dinner when they get home.
***this place was incredible*** 10$ kids menu. Recommend the grilled chicken, veggies and mash. Kids loved it.
I really enjoyed the fried steak sandwich, and the salad was excellent as well. All 4 of us cleaned our plates – and decided to try dessert. The risotto donuts and ice cream was great – not a crumb left.
2 adults 2 kids meals and dessert ~ 80$ before tax. Not cheap but we thought it was super worth it considering all the bad experiences we have been having lately.
Cant recommend enough.
**lots of construction going on around the place – make the effort snd walk – totally worth in in my opinion**. We will be back to try more of the menu!!
Wonderful service, I loved the way I was treated there.
Prices are worthy compared to the service and food quality.
I enjoyed a lot my experience there.
