Great service, food nicely prepared and presented, clean and inviting atmosphere, friendly and courteous staff. We shared fresh veggie rolls, and had Pad Thai with chicken and Pra Ram with chicken and rice. We’d heard about it from friends and glad we checked it out.

They renovated under new management and reopened at the beginning of Feb 2025. I didn’t go there before the update, however I think their rating will definitely go up as I was pleasantly surprised at the quality, taste, and presentation of all the dishes we ordered. Had the Pad Thai with Fresh Spring Rolls. The rolls were so delicious that I had to share (I didn’t want to, but wanted to let others know how good it was). The Pad Thai was just a wonderful. Brother ordered the Basil Chicken with Fried Spring Rolls. He raved as well. Place was clean and the service was prompt.

This Thai restaurant truly delivers an authentic taste, making you feel like you’re dining in Thailand itself. The ambiance is relaxed, with beautifully designed decor that enhances the experience. My partner and I ordered the crispy fried fish with herbs and the shrimp in tamarind sauce—both were outstanding. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a great dining experience. If you’re looking for a Thai restaurant that captures the essence of Bangkok’s flavors, this place is highly recommended.

I’ve been twice now. The pad see ew and drunken noodles are good. The pad thai is very good, just be prepared for a little heat. The basil chicken was great. The coconut sticky rice with mango was excellent and with a beautiful presentation. Nice iced thai coffee and fried rolls too. They’ve refreshed the interior and it looks much nicer. The service really stood out on each of my visits. The servers are efficient, friendly and attentive, and the new owner is wonderful: friendly, helpful and thoughtful. I was initially a little nervous about trying this place as it’s under new ownership and I’ve yet to see it crowded. I’m convinced that is because word hasn’t gotten out yet. Definitely give it a try. It’s a welcome addition to Lafayette’s food scene.

I’ve been dining at Amarin Thai since they first opened nearly 30 years ago. I was just a kid at the time, and it has remained my favorite Thai restaurant in the Bay Area ever since.
Over the years, Amarin has been in the hands of some truly amazing owners–Tom, Pary, Aomy, and now, under the care of Ethan, Kitty, and their chefs. Each of them has shared a deep passion for authentic Thai cuisine, bringing the flavors of Thailand to the Bay Area with dedication and love.
Recently, Amarin closed for about a month for renovations, and the results are impressive. The refreshed ambiance feels more modern and upscale, and they’ve introduced a brand-new menu that adds an elevated touch to both presentation and flavor. The extra attention to detail in plating was a pleasant surprise, making each dish as visually appealing as it is delicious.
As for the food? Still as incredible–if not even better–than before. Many of the same talented chefs remain, alongside a few new additions to the kitchen. The previous owner is also assisting with the transition, and I wish her all the best as she focuses on her family. The new owners seem genuinely committed to upholding Amarin’s legacy while continuously improving the experience. They’re also very open to customer feedback, which is great to see.
My personal go-to dishes have always been the Crunchy Rolls, Fresh Rolls, and Pad See Ew, but I’m excited to try some of the new additions as well.
If you love Thai food and find yourself in the Bay Area, Amarin Thai is absolutely worth a visit–whether you’re a first-timer or a longtime fan. With its new look, refined menu, and the same dedication to quality, it’s poised to be better than ever!

Lovely place with a lot of customers! Paithai is good, but please ask for chili palate! Their peanut sauce is great! More on the sweet side though.

Delicious Thai food in a cozy location in Lafayette with lots of street parking and just a short walk from the BART station. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. I usually get the yellow curry because it’s so good, but the khao soi and basil chicken are great too.
