Dined with friends at Amaranta grill  and bar loved it. One of the best Indian restaurants in Tasmania with outstanding fine dining Indian food. The lamb shank, aloo baingan and kasundi grilled chicken were exceptional. Beautiful ambience and an eye-catching bar — a must-visit for authentic Indian food in Hobart.

I am surprised these blokes has a 4.5 Star rating.

Well,I went to this restaurant as I had been to the sister restaurant Bombay on the beach ( BOB) at blackmans Bay.
I must admit the amaranta CBD has definitely disappointed me in comparison to BOB.

The food was good but not close to BOB.
The quantity served is an absolute disgrace for the price they charge. I understand it is the real estate that is causing the Bill. However the price does not justify the food taste neither the quantity.

Service was jus alright. Staff need to be pleasant. I felt like I was talking to a stone. Maybe she had a bad day or maybe its a cultural thing. No matter what the reason that cannot be the excuse in hospitality/retail industry .

Ambience : is jus alright. All the tables are right next to each other. Again it’s because of the real estate.Good music 5/5 for the music.

Would I recommend this restaurant to family and friends – definitely not.

I would rather drive to Bombay on the beach for 20 mins and be satisfied than settling for this crap.

3* from my side Amaranta.

An incredible dining experience at Amaranta. Food was rich and authentic, and the dal was simply outstanding. Easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Tasmania with a true fine dining Indian food experience. Elegant ambience, great service, and premium flavours — highly recommended.

Amaranta Bar & Grill in Hobart CBD was a fantastic dining experience. The ambience was warm and inviting, and the food truly impressed us. I especially loved one of the cocktails — spicy mango margarita!! ❤️
The palak paneer stood out with its fresh, soft paneer and rich flavour, and the lamb was beautifully cooked — tender, juicy, and perfectly spiced. Overall, a great spot for delicious Indian food and creative cocktails in the heart of the city. Highly recommend!!

Lovely ambience, beautiful setting for a premium Indian food experience in Hobart. Serving staff were very friendly, smiling and informed.

Kurkuri bhindi starter was tasty.
Murgh/chicken biryani was served beautifully , really nicely prepared, aromatic and tasteful.
Karnarak Jhinga is worth trying too.

Achari calamari could do with some more achari taste.
Tulsi/Basil paneer lacked infused flavours and anjeer basmati kheer needs an authentic Indian touch to make it hearty and tasting like figs.

Every thing was good but disappointed with two item , Asked for the fried chicken , Its was smelling like a rotting meat , confronted the wait staff but they took it back and denied it , didn’t even acknowledge it the meat was smelling and rotting , Second asked for the mutton briyani , I think they pore the salt twice , The biryani was so salty we could only eat the half with the help of other curry ,The price they had in the mean was expecting very well and good meal , Ruined out dinner night with those food .Wont be going back again. Just posting a photo to make sure what we had . And came across and knowledge that the owner of Bombay on the beach and this restaurant is the same , I am a regular customer of Bombay on a beach, From now on i am not even going on Bombay on a beach , Coz same owner different treatment , Thats not right .

Beautiful food ❤️❤️, after a long time I had such delicious and authentic Indian food, mouthwatering in every bite. It’s slightly on the pricier side but the food justifies it, the quality of the food and taste is worth every dollar you pay.
Highly recommend it. Will definitely visit again.

Easily the best Indian food I’ve ever had. We found this place by accident on the first night of visiting Hobart, decided to come 3 more times before leaving for the week. We had butter chicken, garlic naan, lamb chops, samosas, fennel salad, chicken tikka, and more. Nothing disappointed. Service was really lovely also. Beautiful setting and delicious drinks. No complaints at all!

Absolutely Incredible Experience!
Hands down the best Indian food I’ve ever had! Amaranta delivers a premium, upmarket dining experience with warm, attentive service that truly stands out. We ordered the Palak Paneer, fresh naan bread, onion salad, and the samosa chaat — each dish was full of authentic flavor and beautifully presented. And the dessert was Absolutely to die for!
Hats off to the entire team — you’re doing an great job. Can’t wait to come back!
