Truly a gem. Family business. We went for the shaved Portuguese with peppers and cheeses. Religious. Next time I’m going to get clear and red clam chowders and scallops. Such a sweet place. Best Portuguese sweet bread evah!!!

Amaral’s Fish & Chips is absolute gem and by far the best seafood around! The fish & chips are always fresh and perfectly cooked, the clam cakes fluffy and flavorful. The staff are beyond kind and friendly, even on a busy Friday night. No matter what I have ordered or when I have gone, I’ve never had a bad experience at Amaral’s!

Divey seafood joint with fresh food. Everything is hot and fresh. Clamcakes were amazing and chowder was flavorful and not too thick. Staff is very friendly and attentive. A bit pricey, but worth a drive.

The fish and chips at this place was amazing it’s a nice little spot. Parking is across the street I didn’t realize that until after I parked on the side of the building and got blocked in. They do have some inside seating a mixture of booths and tables. We ordered fish and chips,calamari , chowder and fried shrimp. Food was delicious and at a real good price. Drinks are bottled and there is a bathroom just ask the person at the counter.

OK. I hate to be *that* guy but I really didn’t get the hype – the food just isn’t good.
My wife and I went here because we wanted to avoid getting ripped off in Newport.
The customer service is by far the High Point. The staff was welcoming and cheery.
The service was lightning fast.
To be fair to the food, it was clearly very fresh.
We tried the clam cakes, the clam chowder, and the fish and chips.
The red clam chowder was delicious, the white clam chowder was so so, nothing to write home to grandmother about.
The fish was just bland. There’s nothing more to say about it. I wish they discovered seasoning or spice. Something, anything to give it flavor. I get that it is fresh, but you have to do more justice to the animal then just dipping it into a basic batter.
I’m not sure I’m ever going back, but I’m giving them four stars because they seem like outstanding people and I don’t want to mess with their algorithm.

Everything I had tasted amazing. Great place to eat. Highly recommended. Also, a good place to knock out Rhode Island regional dishes. It’s a small place, but don’t let that detract you. It is well worth a visit.

Absolutely wonderful! Great little place with a homey feel, kind people with a nice sense of humor, and fantastic food for very reasonable prices. We got fish and chips. The fish was perfectly fried — juicy, crispy, and just delicious! (Also really appreciate that there was vinegar at the table). Clam chowder was great, too. We’ll definitely be back!
