Some of the best Italian I’ve had in a long while. I had the pasta with seafood and my date had ravioli with truffle and braised beef, calamari for appetizer. Pasta is all fresh! Romantic atmosphere and excellent service. I can’t wait to go back!
This was our first time at Amalfi and it was great.
There are tables outside and inside, we enjoyed the inside. What a wonderful and inviting atmosphere. There was a little wait, but well worth it.
We started with some appetizers – the octopus was awesome, but the oysters were my favorite !!
We tried the fresh pasta – the ravioli and gnocchi were so fresh and absolutely delicious.
The veal was so good, I’m glad I picked that dish.
We ended with some coffee and assorted deserts, it was a very good selection.
The staff was so friendly and helpful.
We will be back – thank you !!
The menu was also a bit difficult to understand. Maybe my family is newer to Italian cuisine, but clearer descriptions would have helped. My mother, who is vegetarian, also struggled to find satisfying vegetarian options, which was disappointing.
The tables were extremely close together, making it hard for us to hold our own conversation without feeling like we were part of the table next to us. For a fine-dining atmosphere, this took away from the experience.
As for the food, I don’t feel it was worth the price. The food was bland, My father’s chicken dish was dry, and my sister ordered the butternut squash and ricotta ravioli with lobster, and it contained the smallest pieces of lobster I have ever seen, especially underwhelming given the cost.
That said, the dessert was amazing and truly the highlight of the meal. It was the only part that felt completely worth it.
Overall, Amalfi Houston has some positives, but between the pricing, atmosphere, and menu limitations, I’d give it a 3 out of 5.
I received great service today. My server was attentive and polite. I was spoilt for choice with their extensive menu. Warm bread was served promptly upon sitting.
I had the Risotto Del Mar Tirreno (I will always have risotto as long as the restaurant has it), which was delicious. The ingredients were fresh, and the dish was cooked perfectly. I also had the Tagliatelle Al Manzo E Porcini, which was good, just a little too salty for me. I had the Tort A Caprese Con Gelato Al Pistachio. The pistachio gelato had strong pistachio taste. It was super good. The chocolate and almond cake was rich and was chocolatey.
They have a station where kids are welcome to make their own pizzas. Wonderful idea!
There are two designated parking spots in front of the restaurant for Amalfi’s customers. There is also a big and free parking lot for patrons too.
