We dined here for dinner during our recent trip to Kaua‘i. The food was very good, and the views from our table were spectacular. The ramen bowls come with a variety of sauces served on the side, allowing you to customize your bowl. My husband loved the chili sauce, and I enjoyed the spicy miso. However, I wasn’t told that the spicy miso sauce was already included with the ramen sauce plate that accompanies your ramen and I ordered it separately for $3. Had I known, I wouldn’t have ordered it on the side. Aside from that, we really enjoyed the ramen here!

Ama is a really cool ramen restaurant on the north shore of Kauai. It is located in Hanalei town in the main shopping area. The restaurant converted a covered outdoor patio area into its main dining room and also has seating in the grassy garden area. The restaurant view looks out to lush greenery with the Hanalei mountain range as the final background. It’s a beautiful place to get a simple dinner but I’d recommend going early while there’s still light so you can enjoy the view. The menu is limited to a couple of appetizers, a few ramen selections, a couple of rice bowls, and one dessert but the food was enjoyable overall. Service was great and very friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking for a simple meal with a nice view if you’re in the area.

My wife and I dined at AMA on Tuesday night. We had a reservation and we were seated quickly. The hostess was welcoming and our waitress was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the menu.
I ordered the noodle and pork belly dish and it was the most delicious and tasteful meal I have had so far on our trip. Many complimentary tastes worked well together to make it an unforgettable meal.
The dessert was a wonderful pairing of vanilla ice cream and beignots.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

This is way too over hyped for what you get. The food is very bland. They ran out of chicken the night we went. Noodles were bland and hard. Our reservation was at 7 pm and we weren’t seated until 742 pm. Save your money. Do not recommend, at all.

We hosted our wedding weekend welcome dinner at AMA in November and Chloe and her team knocked it out of the park! Chloe worked with us to customize a menu. Our guests enjoyed a ramen bar, Ono skewers, and an exceptional fruit platter among many other delights. Ama’s atmosphere is the tops. Nestled under the beautiful Kauai mountains, we had the absolute best time. Thank you AMA and Chloe for kicking our wedding weekend off with a bang.

Super delicious ramen. I got the Chashu Ramen with added spicy miso and highly recommend that combo.

I’m giving four stars due to the price. While I understand it reflects the quality of the ingredients, it’s still $24 for a bowl served in a cardboard to-go container during lunch (no dine-in). As a Canadian, after conversion and tip, it feels especially pricey.

That said, the food was excellent and I’d still recommend it.

We had a wonderful dinner with a beautiful view! We had a delicious Mai Tai around the fire pit before we were seated in the open air dining room! The Ramen was very fresh & delicious! This is a must visit while in Kanalei!!!

Fantastic jewel in Hanalei. Not a huge menu, but everything on it is fantastic. I had the Ahi Donburi, and the Ahi was absolutely perfect. So was the Mai Tai. If they are still serving the donuts (beignets) for dessert, SAVE ROOM. Staff are extremely friendly and attentive, and the view is marvelous.

Came here last year with my brother, and it was fantastic. I left craving it for a whole year. I made a reservation for my birthday this year and it was super underwhelming. Half of the menu has been removed, and they now offer 2 appetizers, 4 ramen bowls, and 2 rice bowls. I stayed because the ramen I had last year was still available, but this year when I received it, it was so bland. I had even ordered it with black garlic, which there was none in the sauce even after the server claimed “it was mixed in”. Also the eggs fell apart, WERE COLD (so they were premade), and somehow still undercooked for a ramen egg.

Not only was the food mediocre, but the service was even worse. My boyfriend told me that maybe we were treated terribly (literally ignored by all the service workers and it took forever to get anything from them) because of my clothes but I was wearing a sweatshirt with brown pants and Birkenstocks; everyone else was wearing the same thing??

The view is still to die for, but the food not so much anymore.

The view from the restaurant is stunning, a gorgeous backdrop of green mountains and a lush landscape. It really feels like dining in your own little slice of paradise.

Food was also delicious: we had the shredded papaya salad and pork bao appetizers – both were refreshing and satisfying with a colorful combination of fresh seasonal produce.

I really enjoyed the satay donburi dish – chicken with a deep coconut curry flavor profile. My boyfriend also loved his Chashu ramen dish.

Our service was amazing – so personable and kind. We loved this restaurant.
