This is an odd review. Of ALL the restaurants with stairs of any kind, the few stairs needed to walk into the bar area, these are PERFECTLY aligned for the human step. I liked the atmosphere, open and inviting. I don’t know Spanish but the music was uplifting. We shared a meal that was perfect for 2 of us. A definite Tex-Mex style restaurant. I pray I C E stays the heck out. We will return.

Came to Albany for a show and only had about 45 minutes to eat beforehand after wasting 30 minutes at another nearby restaurant waiting for bar service that never came. We were sat quickly outside and our server understood that we were pressed for time and brought everything out quickly but didn’t feel rushed. I had the fish sandwich which was one of the best I’ve ever had and my friend loved her shrimp quesadilla. We also had the chips and guacamole which had the cutest presentation and was very fresh. Lively yet laid back vibe. Highly recommend and hope to get to stop here again and spend more time!

Hands down one of the best chicken burritos I’ve ever experienced. Pollo Adobo Dorato, to be specific. Coated in red sauce, with some fresh hot sauce to boot and a little crema fresca. Omg. So good.

We also got a Vegetarian Mexican Pizza, I’m told it was one of the best ever. But I never made it that far.

Chips and salsa for the table was also outstanding and FRESH!!

Staff was great, things moved quickly but we never felt rushed.

We did book a table about 30 min before we got there. Not a bad idea on busy nights as there aren’t a ton of tables, especially for larger parties.

If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll def be back.

I am obsessed with Ama Cocina. Their food is amazing. I’ve gotten the birria quesadilla multiple times now and every time it’s equally phenomenal. Their margs are delicious and the guac fresh huge portion. Tacos were all delicious, fish are my favorite. Happy hour is the best!! I’ll come here anytime I need a perfect Mexican meal. One of the best Albany restaurants ❤️

My husband and I went to dinner on a Friday night and, yes, the music was a little too loud. However, we enjoyed the festive vibe and just accepted the fact that we would have to talk a little louder than we normally do. The signature guacamole was the best guacamole I have ever had, and my carne asada tacos were delicious. The steak was tender, and it came out without cilantro and with jalapenos added, as I requested. The cherry margarita was more cherry than tequila but still really good. We’re looking forward to returning someday!

I had a great Valentine’s Day meal at Ama Cocina. It is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Albany in my opinion. I recommend getting the pitcher of margarita for the table. You can choose between a few different kinds, we decided to go with the strawberry. The pitcher came with free chips and salsa as well, which I think is a great idea. Between the two of us we both had four margaritas and had to get an Uber home but it was such a great time!

Our waitress brought over a new glass with ice and sugar rims every time we went through a margarita. I was very impressed with the service and the attention to detail we received from the staff. The guacamole and queso was delicious and I would definitely get it again when I go back. The tacos were all good but I have to admit the barbacoa was my favorite one. It had a great flavor to it that I never had before. I can’t wait to go back. Thanks!

Stopped by for a quick dinner and it was a great experience. We didn’t have reservations but they were able to accommodate us immediately. We had the street corn (absolutely amazing), empanadas with queso (also delicious), carne asada tacos (great flavor, steak cooked perfectly) and the chorizo burrito covered with salsa verde. Everything came out quick and was nothing short of tasty/flavorful. Ended the night with some hibiscus margaritas! I only wish the tacos had a second tortilla- it was so yummy but the taco ripped from the steak juices and sauce lol so delicious though. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

The tacos were amazing, and the staff was great as well. It’s in a really convenient location of your traveling in the city and staying at one of the hotels, and the pricing is pretty reasonable. The food is a bit heavy, but that’s what makes it great.
