We started with the borscht. It was hearty with shredded beets and chopped potatoes. The broth was rich and savory. The bowl came with a lightly toasted bread and a side of sour cream. Next up was the burrata salad. This could be the highlight of the meal for me. The salad was a feast for the eyes and palatte. Normally, I don’t like arugula but the salad had that as the base with ripe heirloom tomatoes, peaches, a generous portion of the burrata cheese topped with pesto, basil, vinaigrette and oil. Just WOW!!!!
Next up were an assortment of dishes to sample and take home. We ordered the beef stroganoff, the lamb plof,, and the pelmini in broth. They were all so delicious but our favorite was the pelmini in that delicate broth.
The service was attentive, friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!
Then I had both the Plov and Beef Stroganoff. The Stroganoff was tender and flavorful, but the plov was absolutely delicious. I didn’t expect it to taste so good. Lamb, perfectly cooked rice, carrots, garlic. A traditional dish cooked with care.
Finally I had the dessert platter. I enjoyed every single thing, but the honey cake was the best. Not too sweet and a potent honey flavor and smell. It’s rare to have a cake with frosting you enjoy and don’t feel sick after, but this is one of those rare cakes.
I loved it, and I will be back next time I’m in Boise!
They have a nice lunch menu.
The outdoor seating area is pleasant.
The food is outstanding without being overly reliant on salt or oil. The natural flavors of the ingredients are brought out in each dish and are complimented well by the generous dill and green onion garnish.
Definitely get the cabbage rolls if they are available! The tomato sauce it comes with is incredible with the rice.
