We had phenomenal experience at Alyonka this afternoon. I visited the restaurant for the first time today and had my friend who had never tried any Russian food, and the service was amazing. Elena is a wonderful woman who told us the story of the place as well as exceptional service during our entire time there. We had assorted blintses, pelmeni, honey cake and Pavlova as well as some good Georgian wine! If you have not tried such food and want to get some memorable experiences this is the place to go. It’s very authentic, with good homemade food and beautiful paintings all over!

What a fantastic meal! Everything was so delicious and authentic.

We started with the borscht. It was hearty with shredded beets and chopped potatoes. The broth was rich and savory. The bowl came with a lightly toasted bread and a side of sour cream. Next up was the burrata salad. This could be the highlight of the meal for me. The salad was a feast for the eyes and palatte. Normally, I don’t like arugula but the salad had that as the base with ripe heirloom tomatoes, peaches, a generous portion of the burrata cheese topped with pesto, basil, vinaigrette and oil. Just WOW!!!!

Next up were an assortment of dishes to sample and take home. We ordered the beef stroganoff, the lamb plof,, and the pelmini in broth. They were all so delicious but our favorite was the pelmini in that delicate broth.

The service was attentive, friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

I visited Alyonka’s for the first time last Friday. I loved every bite I had. I started the meal with a bowl of borscht. The portions are generous and the soup is perfect for a cold day. It’s a vegetable soup but it’s very hardy and it’s made with love. You can taste it wasn’t cooked in a rush and then frozen like most places.

Then I had both the Plov and Beef Stroganoff. The Stroganoff was tender and flavorful, but the plov was absolutely delicious. I didn’t expect it to taste so good. Lamb, perfectly cooked rice, carrots, garlic. A traditional dish cooked with care.

Finally I had the dessert platter. I enjoyed every single thing, but the honey cake was the best. Not too sweet and a potent honey flavor and smell. It’s rare to have a cake with frosting you enjoy and don’t feel sick after, but this is one of those rare cakes.

I loved it, and I will be back next time I’m in Boise!

My husband and I stopped in on a whim and we started with the iced Hibiscus tea which was delicious! Please if you’re going to get a drink that’s non alcoholic let it be this one! So refreshing! We ordered the beef stroganoff and Elena’s favorite dish (chicken cutlets) everything was seriously so perfectly flavored. The host was nice and knowledgeable. 100% will be returning.

Food was okay. Nothing really special and certainly not a great value/ enjoyment compared to other restaurants. There were four of us. Meals came 10 minutes apart from each other. A simple beet mash side was 14.95. Broth was an additional 3.00. Potato Pork Loin roast was 98% potatoes. At the end of the day, it was marginal present food in small portions @ $65.00 per person.

Wow what a great meal! We heard about Alyonkas on DDD and saved it for future trips. Finally made it here today- so delicious! We had the veggie and caviar blini, borscht, the lamb plof, and the vareniki- all amazing. Authentic, fresh and did I mention delicious? We will be back next time we are in Boise. Just go, this place is a gem.

This place is easily one of the best restaurants in Boise. The staff is very friendly and the space is intimate and tasteful.
The food is outstanding without being overly reliant on salt or oil. The natural flavors of the ingredients are brought out in each dish and are complimented well by the generous dill and green onion garnish.
Definitely get the cabbage rolls if they are available! The tomato sauce it comes with is incredible with the rice.
