Visited Alvis for my birthday dinner yesterday. I’m mad at myself for not making the drive sooner! I got a burger flight (3 sliders left to right was the jalapeno popper, backroad, and beer cheese) because of my indecisiveness and my friend had the full-sized “Tamaroa ‘Merica” burger. In my and my friend’s opinion, Alvis has the best burgers in Southern Illinois so far. Every slider was incredible, but I think the jalapeño popper was my favorite because of the unique sweet and spicy combo paired with the cream cheese, and the fresh jalapeño was like the cherry on top. The beef patties were noticeably fresh and had great flavor too.
Service was quick and very friendly, the inside was clean with nice decor, and one thing I appreciated was that I felt comfortable and safe inside. I rarely visit bars due to their tendency to feel “off” so I was very happy with how nice it felt inside. Alvis was 100% worth the drive for both the food and vibes. I know that I’ll be back!

I didn’t expect much first time I stopped in at Alvis Backroad Bar and Grill but I was sure blown away it ain’t your normal small town bar the food here is some of the best I ever had around here everything tastes homemade and you can tell they actually care bout what they serve
The soups are my favorite they got a different one about every day and I ain’t had a bad one yet it’s real food not out a can thick and full of flavor always hits the spot
There burgers are good too big and juicy and cooked just right they don’t use that frozen meat like most places and they pile em up with good stuff every time
Their salmon is better than anything around here I’ve had salmon all up and down the hill in Saint Louis and this place knocks every one of them out the park it’s always cooked perfect tender and seasoned just right
the folks working there are nice and fast even when they’re busy and it just feels comfortable in there you can bring your family or sit at the bar and you’ll still feel welcome, they have video games for the kids so you can sit and relax
Ain’t nowhere else within 60 miles like this place most places round here all serve the same old fried stuff but this one’s different real food cooked right by people that care that’s why I keep going back

My husband and I had our first visit today. We both had a burger flight, and we both loved our burgers. We did not receive our appetizer that we were looking forward to, but maybe next time. Food was excellent, but because we didn’t receive our appetizer and waitress did not check on us, I only gave 4 stars.

BANDS BEWARE! We were scheduled to play here twice this year and the rude owner Taylor canceled us both times for miscellaneous reasons last minute both times leaving us with no apology or empathy for the situation whatsoever and canceled our future gigs because I asked her if the rest of the dates were still solid! This lady has a “Better than you!,” pompous attitude towards people! We musicians are not trash to be talked down to and treated unprofessional! Boycott this place!!!!
