Used to love this place! It is expensive, and the food quality declines with each visit. I ordered a steak torta sandwich today. There were some pieces of steak. They also added cold cut ham and cold hot dogs, poorly sliced. I didn’t ask for any of that. It felt like a “get rid of the leftovers” sandwich…for $16. Yeash. Will go elsewhere for decent Mexican food from now on.

We’ve driven by this place many times and finally decided to give it a try today. The menu is extensive with a lot of great-sounding combinations. I ordered the El Mexicano with carne asada, and my husband got the El Gordo with chicken. The burritos were huge and came with chips and a choice of mild or hot salsa—so we tried both.

My burrito had a lot of rice but not much steak, and the steak itself wasn’t very well seasoned. I also didn’t notice any avocado, and most of the flavor came from the jalapeño, which was a bit overpowering. My husband’s burrito had much more meat, but it was very messy—definitely not something you’d want to take to go.

On the bright side, the chips were nicely salted, and the salsa was really good. Even the hot salsa wasn’t too spicy for us. One suggestion: giving the burritos a quick press on the flat top could help tighten them up, reduce the mess, and add a nice extra touch.

The fountain drinks were also down, and the selection was limited. I’m a Coke girl and was hoping for one, but they only had Pepsi.

Overall, we’ll be back to try something else—maybe the street tacos or nachos next time

Placed an online order 9/12 at 6:57p and got an email confirming the order and officially charging my card. When I arrived at the store the open sign was off and the door was locked, there were no posted hours on the store but online it listed them as open until 8:30p. Tried to call but there was no answer, I left a message letting them know I wanted to get a refund. I stopped by on 9/15 at 8:25a and despite online again saying they are open, they are not, all the lights were off including the open sign and the door was locked.

I was recently working in the area and had little time to grab food, but this place was like a gift! 10/10 would travel to the KC area just to eat here again. They have an extensive menu w lots I want to try, and I imagine big portions as the burrito I got was MASSIVE. Great price for a burrito I needed lunch AND dinner to finish. The staff was great and you can tell from the crowd that Champion Burritos MUST be popular. It definitely should be!!

Are you tired of Chipotle or the same routine Mexican food? Alvarado’s Champion Burritos To Go is a refreshing change and one of the best local spots for authentic flavor. The burritos are huge, satisfying, and full of well-seasoned ingredients. There are plenty of options, including favorites like the quesabirria and spicy shredded chicken. It’s a favorite stop for many Hispanic locals and working staff in the area, which adds to the restaurant’s genuine and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and also speaks Spanish if you prefer that. Service is fast, about as quick as Chipotle, but the food tastes far more authentic and homemade. You can dine in, and the setup is clean and casual with a relaxed neighborhood feel. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s a good one with real heart and honest food. The only downside during my last visit was that the soda fountain wasn’t operating, though that’s a small issue compared to the quality of the food. They also have a nice variety of salsas to enjoy, each adding its own bold and memorable touch to an already excellent meal.

Small place at the Missouri state side river. The portions is dramatically big. Not big to overflow, but just big enough not to moving around after burrito for awhile.

Prices are good, food are good. The dining room itself not exactly place you want to be, but you came here not for that. Order, grab, eat.

Few weeks i called and made an order ended up not being able to pick it up due to something important coming up. I call to place a to go order WEEKS later and the lady mentions the previous time i had something come up where i wasnt even able to eat in the first place. Now you miss out on two sales. Terrible business management. Why even mention that knowing people have other things going on then champion burrito lol. Stuff came up im sure thats not the first time that happened but having a grudge because it happened is insane. Youre a restaurant now i feel like i can never eat there again cause only God knows what they would do to my food. Also they may need to be inspected as well.

This is the place I have been looking for. Real Mexican food. The Chorizo breakfast burrito is worth the drive.
