Don’t think I’ve enjoyed food, out and about m, this much– In literal YEARS. Everything from Sweet to savory, not just cookies. The amount of variety was as Impressive as the quality!! Shared a cream puff, muffin, and donut with my family while there, and took home a fougasse that I’m dipping in homemade garlic puree/butter as I type- and to say this is heaven does not do it justice. So glad to have found this absolute gem today and cannot wait to go back again!!!

Alter Ego gas managed to do something amazing and what most may find nigh impossible to achieve: make delicious gluten-free goods that hold their own against their glutenous counterparts. Their ingredients are fresh, their breads moist and full of texture, and their desserts always offer something new to try. Gluten free or not, the food here is phenomenal in an entirely original way.

This place is a hidden gem. I could not believe how beautiful and delicious the food was. In my experience, sometimes getting gluten free food to taste good is possible, but to look good too, is quite the feat. I had the pistachio cream puff and I’m in love! Already planning my next trip to this little bakery. The service was wonderful too.

The interior decoration was beautiful, the service was so accommodating! I had a breakfast sandwich, but they replaced the sausage with fried green tomato and arugula. It was DELICIOUS! The raspberry espresso cake was the BEST genoise and whipped cream “cream” cake I’ve had in decades. I highly recommend this eatery to anyone with food allergies who have missed treats and eats!

Staff member was amazing and super supportive. This is a perfect little getaway spot for a quiet day. Also the treats aren’t too bad, & plus gluten free days are a must.

I’m disappointed this is my 2nd time here, the 1st time baker called in so items were very limited, the cookies were good and 2nd time I went I really wanted to try this gluten free baguette bread for so long, unfortunately I’m very disappointed. It’s heavy, dense and 1/2 the size of regular baguettes as it was only 7inches (as stated on the receipt) and it is so much more expensive at $6.25. Wegmans Schar baguettes are bigger and lighter and BFree Baguettes, White Demi you get 2 longer baguettes for $7.99. I’m going to try to make bread crumbs from it and the fougasse bread so it isn’t a total loss. The fougasse bread was extremely salty. The Gluten free Rummo pasta which is my go to, is $6.50, but whole food sells it for $4.29 and rebel cheese which is a dairy free option is $15 for a 5 oz piece I’m shocked by their prices. Last time, I was there I purchased a gluten free Italian pasta for $11 for 12 oz I was disappointed with the quality too! So sad, I was really hoping to support a local business but it’s a shame how much they overcharge for items and the quality isn’t better.

Great local bakery and coffee shop. If you’re gluten-free this is a must stop! They make so many things that you may be missing if you cannot have gluten such as cheesecake, donuts, scones, cream puffs and more. The owner and staff are very kind and really care about their products and the labor of love that goes into them. Also many vegan options too if you require this. All around a very accommodating bakery for those with dietary needs. Also great coffee beverages!

We visited upstate NY and I researched places with GF baked goods. Alter Ego did not disappoint! We shared a cream puff and a plain bagel toasted with cream cheese and they were both delicious! The cream puff was chilled and the crust was flaky and so flavorful and the custard was the perfect sweetness. The bagel tasted like a regular bagel. We will definitely be back!

This is a magical place that scratched the “itch” of all of my favorite foods! EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING, is gluten free!! There is a large vegan and dairy free variety as well. I had the bagel with cheese, egg and sausage. It wss mouthwateringly delicious. As I was traveling back home, where entirely gf places are not available, I bought home a cream puff and 2 enormous donuts. They were all delicious, even to non gf eating members of my family. I can’t wait to come back!

My Husband is diabetic and it’s always a struggle to find good desserts that aren’t filled with artificial sweeteners that won’t spike his numbers. Kayla adjusted her carrot cake recipe to tailor to my husbands dietary restrictions utilizing the natural sweetness of fruits in the cake and only used sugar replacement for the frosting but made sure it was more cream cheese than sugar. The cake was absolutely amazing, everyone enjoyed it and my husband was able to have real cake for his birthday I will always be thankful for Alter Ego!
