Don’t be fooled when you park out front…do not judge this book by its cover. I got enchiladas and they where to die for!! Great people and service was top notch. They worked well with language barrier which is discouraging sometimes!! I’ll be back here again…probably tomorrow!!

Went for a Sunday brunch yesterday. It was delicious as usual. If you appreciate true authenticity in ambiance, El Alteno Taqueria is exactly like walking into most any average cafe deep in Mexico. I had the breakfast porkchop plate (huevos rancheros con chuleta de puerco). My companion had the migas plate. They were both delicious. Our server was very welcoming and quickly brought everything as requested. The only thing that has become disappointing is that almost anything and everything that is requested now like additional condiments, more tortillas, etc. are pricey and are added to the bill. Prices on the menu are extraordinarily reasonable, but any additional requests being added to the bill inflates the total. The bill is always unclear with no prices or total making it impossible to leave the correct tip amount until getting the total and paying at the register. Getting a full understanding of the accounting for the bill at the register is challengingly difficult at best. Since the total price is still relatively reasonable, I always just go ahead and pay. Where before the pandemic two people could get what we got for under $15 is now well over $25. But…It’s the same most anywhere so what can you do?

Food is true Tex-Mex & home cooking style, and the cost is affordable for today’s standards. It’s these restaurants that is more then just good food, it’s apart of what was CCTX once was and for me to remember my childhood.
If visiting to CCTX, please eat local it helps these restaurants to continue on and most of all you’ll taste and experience what CCTX is all about.

I went through the drive through and a female wrote out the order. Next went to the window. I ask the guy to repeat the order at the window. I said the order he had was incorrect. So I said let me tell you what needs to be corrected. Plus I order a specific breakfast sausage. He said to me in a very rude way go somewhere else that will give you what you want and close the window I said your not going to fix it. He said go somewhere else and close the window. I honk and he repeated himself again and close the window. I am glad I did not get my order, he probably would had spit in it. To the owner if that guy that was there today don’t want to deal with the public you need to hire people that want to work and have people skills. Bad day or not, you are there to work otherwise find some else to work. The bad part of it is, my sister knows the owners. What an experience, being from out of state and be treated that way! Never again.

This place is absolutely amazing. The food was great, staff were extremely friendly, and it had a relaxed atmosphere. The prices were cheap and you received a lot of food. I would definitely go back a few more times.

Excellent experience with staff, fast service, food was hot fresh and as requested. The best pastor and crispy molleja! Definitely returning on my next trip to CC.
Congrats to the owner and staff.

This place charged me $31.00 dollars for two tacos, small cup of supe, and two fountain drinks. After checking my receipt,I noticed I’d been over charged $21.00 dollars for food I had not ordered. Never again, if you eat there check your receipt.

Alteno has been my families go-to restaurant for years but for the last year or two it has been a roller-coaster with the quality of food.
Overall they have good tasting food.
The Carne Guisada can be good one day and the next it is fatty, real red, and only like 4-5 pieces in a taco.
The Tortillas can be good when made fresh. Lately they have been pre-made or just not made good, they are hard. The breakfast plate scrambled eggs are always overdone and the sausage patties I think are made there, they are so thin and cooked on one side because they leave it on the grill too long it cooks quick and burns.
I asked for a chorizo and egg taco with bean and everything was separate in the taco, not mixed. Chorizo by itself is strong and I was pregnant at the time I couldn’t eat it.
It has to be different cooks but when we make a complaint to the staff or owner they act like we’re being over dramatic or lying. They hate hearing feedback which is bad for their business. This is the reason for this review.
We get alteno almost every single morning so these comments are coming from years of experience here and we’re just tired of the quality.
It seems like they are going the cheaper quicker route to make the food.
Alteno is convenient for us because of its location but we’re getting ready to start trying other restaurant near by.
Pictures are from several different visits months apart.
