We stopped here by coincidence and only had to wait 10 min or less for a table (not bad for a Sunday around 1pm). We ordered the König Breakfast, the Wurst Platte and the apple strudel for dessert, food was amazing. The service was awesome! our server Anette was very kind and attentive. The atmosphere was perfect for us, we preferred to be outside because there was live music. I would go back and recommend this restaurant

We walked down Main Street until we found Altdorf Biergarten which was the only authentic German cuisine restaurant open in the middle of the week. This was definitely a good choice. From the outside it has great atmosphere where looked like been here for ever. The inside was just the same old and explorative. Our waitress seemed like she was from Germany which added to the ambiance of the place.
I ordered the Wienerschnitzel like the menu stated topped with house pickled onion, capers and fresh lemon, served with rotkohl and spatzle. I also had to get a German beer to compete the experience. The Wienerschnitzel was extremely good and enjoyed it very much. It was also fun to walk around to see what else this place had to offer.

We stopped here for lunch and a few beers. The bartender told us this was the best Reuben sandwich in town. He was not wrong! Possibly best Reuben we’ve ever had. Good atmosphere, good service. The fries were fantastic and crispy, potato skins appetizer was sooo good, and the beers were great. Stop here! You won’t regret it.

The food was great. I especially liked the pickled cabbage. The bacon based sauce for the schnitzel was superb. Our waiter did disappear during our dinner and did not offer refills until we were ready to leave which is why I rated the service 4 stars.

I love the service & atmosphere of Altdorf Biergarten. The elderly German waitress was really nice & knowledgeable about the menu items. She walked me through the entire restaurants & even showed me where to take pictures. The restaurant was built on a very old well that they sealed with tempered glass so you can stand on top & look directly down its depths. The lighting inside is a wonderful mix of sunlight, eminating through drawn laced curtained wimdows, & soft warm glow of chandelier light. Beautiful western themed paintings lined the rugged antique stone walls of this ancient spacious building. The restrooms are always clean & service was very professional & prompt. There is also a very large & well organized outdoor area spread out against a beautiful landscape mural.
THAT BEING SAID, the food is pretty bland, mediocre, & the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. I had the fried pickles for appetizer which were pretty good, but again kinda skimpy for $11. The Jagerschnitzel, with potato salad & red cabbage & Zwiebelschnitzel with spatzle pasta & red cabbage were both pretty bland & came out luke warm. I had their burger & fries on another trip there & it was a bit better, but nothing extraordinary. Their presentation & plating is pretty good though & adds to the experience & atmosphere dining there.

Very minor wait when we arrived. It was perfect weather for outdoor seating. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, but sort of disappeared towards the end of our meal . Dessert took almost 30 min to come out… it was good though! Everything else was tasty and we would definitely come back k again.

Went yesterday for lunch. I was relieved to find the relative calm of the bar. Bartender was very friendly, courteous, excellent service in spite of filling all the incoming servers’ drinks orders. Ordered the wienerschnitzel plate–SO GOOD. Spaetzle and purple cabbage were very tasty with the schnitzel. I was going to go to a wine bar after, but then I saw they had Weisenstephaner on tap and I was like, welp, guess I won’t be doing that now! Great experience.

Party of four, ordered a decent variety of dishes. Nothing was spectacular. Sat in the bar area and had great service from the bartender, but we waited forever to get our food (even the bartender was annoyed) and the hostess staff wasn’t very friendly.
Cool patio and live music, so if I were to do it all over, we’d go for drinks and entertainment and skip the dinner.

Saturday 3/7 , an early supper, 4 adults, and it was terrific! Even our awesome server, Annette, is from Germany! The Reuben sandwich was excellent, the rest of us had awesome schnitzels, and we left room for the apple strudel. We couldn’t have asked for better. Go and enjoy!
