The rating is based mainly on the two “vegetable” dishes we had.

Just for clarification, there are two sides to the menu: “vegetables” and “meat/fish”. The difference between the “meat” dishes and the “vegetable” dishes is day and night.

“Delicata Squash” – atrocious taste and texture. Taste – I roast sweet potatoes for my dog, and my sweet potatoes are 20 times sweeter and tastier. Texture – gritty (how was that possible to achive?).

“Artichoke Tempura” – worse taste and texture. Artichokes clearly came from a can. Peculiar sourish taste to them and moist texture from pickling liquid.

Foie gras and tartar dishes were great.

Cocktails were great.

Service I liked. The waitress was…I would say a real pro. But, the first dishes came 5 min after we ordered. I mean – really?! – we were trying to enjoy the cocktails….
Also, the desert plates were cleaned literally even before we put the spoons down. Some kind of a mechanical feel to it all.

The dining room (for dinner) is sterile and slightly unpleasant. Looks good for breakfast and lunch.

Bar area looks really good!

Expensive restaurant. Things need some refinement in my opinion.

Tucked inside the Arlo hotel is bustling bar and restaurant catering to a focused menu of veggies and proteins crafted with flavorful touches and creative accents.

The rum coconut cocktail was yummy if a bit light on the rum. The tempura artichoke hearts were dazzling and quite pleasing – a great sharing plate. The chimichurri steak was cooked and cut for easy eating. Midtown prices.

The hostess and server were super friendly and memorable and their affectionate vibes really made the entire meal brighten. Solid staff.

The bar was really going the entire I was there, and the general vibe was midtown professional with a touch of tourist.

It took me a minute to find the host stand. You have to walk in a vaguely marked door and sort of head back, or walk in the Arlo entrance, cut down the bar and then make a right. I stood around for a minute confused until a bar server took pity on me.

Fantastic dishes and very tasty food. An amazing and over friendly staff, I can’t recall the last time I observed the check coat staff literally courteously help you put on your coat upon exiting. Waitress was just lovely and exuded her happiness to serve us.

Guys, the food here is OMG amaaaazing! I went with zero expectations, but it turned my dinner into a feast. I literally asked, “Who is the chef here?” I won’t even describe everything I ate, but whatever you order, you’ll fall in love. This is New York!!let’s appreciate the value of this place. Wow! And I also want to thank our waiter, Shane he knows the menu perfectly and everything he recommended was on point. Chef’s recommendation!!you won’t regret it!

I had a fabulous solo dinner. Staff was super attentive and made great recommendations. The server Dina was so personable and the manager Justine came by to make sure everything was going well several times. The food was spectacular but the pumpkin bread was so special. Definitely will be back again!!!

Grateful for our friends who brought us here. The restaurant has a cozy and pristine atmosphere, with just the right level of noise where you can comfortably have a conversation. The overall vibe is relaxed and chill.

The food was absolutely splendid. If you’re looking for higher range with truly good food, we highly recommend this place. Although they require the full party to be present before seating, the reservation process and getting a table were still quite convenient.

The restroom was clean, which we appreciated. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and would gladly come back.

I stayed almost a week here and ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner many times. Breakfast was my favorite. The pancakes are fluffy and so good, and the avocado toast is really, really good, too. There are so many choices for breakfast. You should definitely go and explore. Even the Greek yogurt was really good with homemade granola. Dinner was also good. I love the beef steaks, and the tartar is good, too. There is an outside terrace, too, with a very nice vibe in the bar area. Highly recommended!!

I don’t typically review hotel restaurants because I typically don’t try them, however, Altair is a restaurant I wish I’d eaten every meal in while staying at the Arlo. This place is ridiculous. I don’t know what they put on their breakfast potatoes but I promise you you have never had potatoes like these. The pancakes are cloud level fluffy (dare I say they use seltzer water to achieve such heights?) I didn’t eat them because I have a gluten allergy but my partner was extremely impressed. I ordered a sides breakfast and have never been so happy to have a food allergy on my life. If I could swear here I would because holy snorckleflats, I could eat this every morning and never get tired of it. Servers were all excellent, very friendly and not too hovery or absent. Highly enjoyable and will be dreaming of these potatoes and avocado combination till I can come back.
