From the laid back, warm, welcoming environment, to the well appointed selection of empanada, the owners have out done themselves. The vegetarian and vegan options are easy to identify and were both savory and full of flavors. I got a spinach and a vegetarian beef and was not dissapointed. Right across from the castle pines library, the location is convenient for those days I need a book or a conference room.
I’ve been meaning to check this place out and will definitely be back.
However! The cake was a huge disappointment. I don’t think they turn their cakes, at least that one over very quickly. It was good but dry like it had been sitting sliced in the case too long. They could solve this problem easily by not slicing as many pieces until they are needed. Or placing them in a nice see through container that would keep them fresh but visible. It was edible but definitely! Dried out. Sadder still i asked for a recommendation so if he has suggested his best seller rather than telling me everything was good. I would have had a better experience as well.
Sadly I asked for a decaf coffee and I am guessing by the fact that I was up until 4:00 AM I got regular. The coffee was okay, I’d be willing to try it again earlier in the day…
But, overall I’d say go for the Empanadas and don’t be taken in by the rest….
The employees are amazing and will take their time to explain items to you. The place is rarely busy but very relaxing to be at.
The desserts looked delicious and expertly prepared.
We ordered four empanadas to split: Spicy Beef, Potato and Cheese, Chicken, and Spinach. The dough was flaky and melts in your mouth.
The Spicy Beef did not have that much heat, but it hit the spot. The Spinach empanada melted in my mouth. The spices complemented each other.
I got the feeling that they prefer you to take the food home. They asked three times and then I had to ask for plates, silverware.
The dining area is small, so I understand that real estate is prime. Then, as we were enjoying our last bites, a customer actually cleared our table before she left.
