Practically had the place to ourselves. It was a nice venue at which to celebrate a birthday. Appreciated being able to order off both the Alpine and El Lugar menus. Highly recommend the mushroom small plate. The tuna was a great portion and also good. Currywurst was excellent and the kaspatzel was amazing. A neighborhood gem!

We are visiting Columbus from out of state and made reservations to have dinner. I am sure glad that we did. The service was outstanding and everyone was helpful and friendly. Parking was as expected since it is located in the middle of the city. The restaurant was clean and looked great. Now for the food. This has to be one of the best meals that I have ever had. We are German and were blown away with the quality and taste of the food. Everything was perfect! If you are visiting Columbus, this is a must visit. We plan on another dining experience during our stay in Columbus. Well done Alpine!! Alles war perfekt!

Very nice place and the employees were very helpful. The manager came over and spoke with for a little while prior to eating. He is a very soft spoken gentleman. The restrooms were down two flights of stairs may cause difficulties for some. The bar was stocked very well and that area was quite comfortable. The aroma was so good emanating from the kitchen area prior to eating it made us that much hungrier. The parking in the area is horrible. Watch the signs very carefully or be ready to get a hefty ticket and get towed. The outside eating area looked great.

Alpine is a nice smaller restaurant in German Village that has a pleasant atmosphere as soon as you walk up. The staff were all very courteous and kept up on us without being annoying. They provided some good conversations and updates on the history of the place and the food. Menu has some good classic German offerings that you’ll find at most every other German restaurant. Alpine offers some additional ones that I haven’t seen at others that really make them unique. Drink selection was pretty good, and they made us some custom ones as well as providing great draft German beer!

How worth was it tracking down The Alpine Restaurant? 5 stars worth. Sitting outside, the sun dropping behind the trees, we were able to decompress, and enjoy a beer and tasty food! Friendly professional staff, the beer crisp and refreshing, and the spätzle was top notch! Start tracking.

I absolutely love Alpine- It’s one of my favorite spots in Columbus( as a Columbus local, that’s saying a lot). El Lugar is a tapas and bar attached and owned by the same and is a wonderful as well. So many good dishes to try! Try the scallop or steak + wine from El Lugar and get the Raclette- bubbly, melty cheese added on to anything from Alpine. You wont be disappointed!! The owner is so kind. For my bday one year he brought out a fancy bottle of wine and gave it to us half price. 10/10 every time here.

Came here for a birthday dinner. The food was great! $9 for a scrape of raclette seems excessive until you taste it. The hickory smoked Old Fashioned was wonderful

This German restaurant is very cute and has great spatzle! It seems to have some Swiss influences too with the Raclette cheese! The bartender convinced me to get some of this fondue like cheese melted on top of my head schnitzel and I am not mad about it 😉 There are several sides to choose from with entree’s – I got the cucumber salad (very vinegary with fresh dill, I really enjoyed it) + spatzle (German Mac and cheese-esque dish but the “noodles” or spatzel is pan fried with butter, just a little brown to them but not crunchy, so delicious!)

Really nice atmosphere in this place for a date night or a song to sit and talk for a bit. The menu contains items from both Lugar and Alpine, so you have an awesome blend of cuisine to choose from. One of the few places around Columbus that serves Raclette, and oxtail soup as well. The service was well-timed and attentive; they did a great job. Highly recommend checking out if you’re around german village and are craving some cheese .
