Upscale destination serving scratch-made German fare in a historic locale with a wine & beer garden.

We were so excited to visit Alpine Haus, and it did not disappoint. This cute German restaurant is set in an adorable historic house with a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. It’s a great place to go with friends or family because it’s easy to carry on a conversation without feeling overwhelmed by noise.
We visited on a Saturday night and really enjoyed the accordion player — such a lovely, authentic touch that added to the experience. My husband and I shared the sausage platter with sauerkraut, and it was absolutely amazing.
Overall, Alpine Haus offers a fantastic atmosphere and a delicious meal. We’ll definitely be back.

We went to the Alpine for our office holiday lunch, and honestly, it was a bit underwhelming. The food is somewhat overpriced, though the portions are generous. I ordered the Cordon Bleu Schnitzel, which was pretty good, but the potato dumplings were bland and the gravy was a little watery. I should’ve chosen the fried potatoes my coworker had—they looked much better. I also tried the cabbage: the portion was generous, but it was completely flavorless. Our waitress, Kim, was wonderful—very attentive and helpful with menu suggestions. I’ll probably only return with the office, since my coworkers seem to love it.

The BESTTT!!! We tried the sample platter, and a little bit of everything, and it was amazing! The service was spectacular Sarah was great! The food came out hot and smelling great! The fried Brie… a dream. I honestly want to come back even though I live nowhere near. I honestly have high standards for food, and this place meets them. Also not to mention the decor and the ambiance was super transporting. 10/10

My daughter treated me to lunch at Alpine Haus Restaurant in New Braunfels, Texas. She has dined here many times with friends. Our meals were outstanding! I had the grilled chicken salad, my daughter had the Schnitzel Sandwich lunch special. The mushroom soup and marbled rye bread was delicious! I asked for a second basket of the rye bread! The service was quick and excellent. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant and we will be returning!

We haven’t been to Alpine Haus in a while since we moved to Florida so we were happy to make a trip to New Braunfels to eat lunch there. We lived in Germany for 8 years over 2 military assignments so we miss the food. Alpine Haus is pretty close to the food there which is why it was our favorite place to eat German food. The restaurant is in an old historic building which adds to the experience. The service was friendly and first class. We had the Jaeger and Rahm schnitzels with spatzle, blue cabbage, sauerkraut, salad and mushroom soup. All were very tasty and the portions were big. We definitely recommend it if you like German food.

Sauerbraten and Jagerschnitzel are a must. Both were tender and savory while the Spaetzle was sweet and tangy. Cherry Strudel was sweet and a nice treat to end the night. The beers and wines are all German, by far the most authentic German restaurant I have even dined at. I would give more than 5 stars but Google will not let me.
The owner visited me for a few minutes and you could tell he puts every ounce of energy and passion into every plate.

We celebrated our 33 wedding anniversary here, today! Today! . The foods and service was excellent! We will be back and with friends! We were here mid-day. No reservations needed. Very chill vibe! Nice German music playing. The fried brie is a meal in it self. Have a schnitzel…you will be happy!!! The alpine delight was just that!

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here w family whilst n town and it was great to see the culinary traditions of Germany and Austria in full swing here. We had the pleasure of being back n Germany this past year visiting friends and our little village we used to live in for a few years, and the offerings here really took me back to our home away from home. I’m a huge fan of veal schnitzel and very much enjoyed their take on this dish. The sides all are prepared with their own version of seasonings, etc and thus it was nice not to have usual stock offerings u find at other joints. The bier selection here also had some of my favorite jefe’s and that was an added bonus. Service was wonderful, and reservations are recommended during busier holiday months when the town is packed w river visitors. Prost!!!

Atmosphere, decor and service was great. Our server was very sweet and attentive. Now, I’m German (not german descent or born in Germany and raised in the US). I only moved to the US 12 years ago and absolutely know what simple German food should taste like. First things first, the baked Brie was amazing, definitely enjoyed it BUT its traditionally served with compote Lingonberries. Now if that’s not available Cranberries will do, but raspberry jam? Seems lazy and cheap to me. Nonetheless we really enjoyed it and was willing to actually just ignore the jam.
Now onto the The Schweinebraten. Oh my. First things first. The sauce, gravy whatever you want to call it was barely existent, Color was off (nice dark color would be ideal) and there war zero flavor. I had to add so much salt and pepper to even make it edible. But then I cut into the meat and lets just say it was dry as an off tasting that I had to order something else. The waiter was super nice and let me order a Schnitzel which I enjoyed, but here again the breading (Panade) definitely lacked flavor. (A little s&p is all it needs).
The dumplings were ok, nothing special. Definitely had better. Bratkartoffeln are just fried potato cubes.
Now onto to the Cordon Bleu. My husband was first shocked to see the cheese and ham laying on top of the super thin Schnitzel and we laughed it off since we never tried it like that before, but was disappointed with the first bite. It’s definitely a lazy and overpriced schnitzel that I could have cooked better myself. The special thing about a cordon bleu is when you cut in and the gooey cheese melts from in between your two layers of schnitzel. There was non of that. One layer of thin schnitzel with a layer of cheese and ham on top. Takes less than 3 min to prepare this and therefore tasted absolutely underwhelming.
For the price we paid we expected more and definitely better food.
Overall this restaurant could do better as it’s a really simple menu.
P.S. adding parsley to every dish is also lazy.

Ach Du lieber ya’ll ! In New Braunfels with its German heritage, you would expect a great German restaurant. Alpine Haus delivers in spaten!
For our first time, we had the brie appetizer to start. Wowzers! An entire brie wheel, covered in almonds with beautifully soft marbled bread. It would easily satisfy a party of four.
I had an excellent rouladen (exactly like my German grandmother made!!) Delicious!! and hubby had a tasty chicken Rahm Schnitzel (creamy mushroom sauce with chicken) which was devine. Our server was wonderful, friendly and so helpful. Great German ambiance. Small authentic German restaurant. Come hungry, come ready for an awesome treat.
