Alpha Brewing Company was a great experience. They have many craft beers and their own root beer and cream soda. I ordered the patty melt. It is cooked on Rye Bread and comes with two patties. No reservations required, you order at the bar and then seat yourself. We stayed and played cards after our meal and even tho we had stopped ordering food the bar tender still brought us waters and was attentive. They get all of their breads locally from the St Louis area. They make all of their own sauces. Very unique flavors all around. I highly recommend this place.

Great little local brewery.

Really liked the cranberry sour.

Pretzel bites with beer Cheese dip was also very good. They fry the pretzels to make them nice and crunchy.

Staff was very friendly and perfectly attentive.

Famous St. Louis blues Man, Rich McDonough plays here the last Sunday of the month. Playing a great acoustic set.

I’m in the process of moving my reviews over from Yelp. This was originally published 1/5/20:

Great place to chill for an afternoon!

I’m a big fan of a comfortable place to chill out and have a couple of beers with friends. That’s exactly what this place offers…and more.

Beer selection is a bit limited but I liked their color-coding on the menu board. I also liked the ability to have 3 of their 5-oz pours and then choose a beverage for a full pint.

Their food service requires a bit of information to really understand. They have a very small kitchen but still make virtually everything they serve from scratch. An example? They don’t buy breading mix for their fried foods, they make it in house. Who does that? Who (serving food at a bar) does that? Same story for all of the sauces and sides. House-made everything.

Of note – one of my favorite people from Whole Foods in Town & Country is now working here as a chef. He has years of professional experience and taught me how to prepare numerous dishes without ruining them – no small feat. He knows his stuff and I can’t wait to get back to try his food. My first order will include a burger. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a 100% beef tenderloin burger before but I’m definitely getting one next time I visit Alpha Brewing.

This a great little brewery serving great beer. I had the “I have the Sipster APA” and the wife tried the Divine Intervention. Both were great. The DI was perfect for my wife as it had a great mellow flavor. We wanted to have a little bite to eat so we just got a basket of fries, and they are really really good. Crispy, seasoned, hot and fresh. Great place to stop in.

What a find! I was searching for a brewery that had their own root beer (as a non-drinker) but with a good list of options on tap. Everyone left happy, and the service from Grace was A+++. We also got to meet Tassie, the brewcat!

Friendly and hospitable staff. Large selection of beers. Nice ambiance inside as well as a large patio. Unfortunately, they allow smoking on the patio, which ruins it for all non-smokers and those allergic to smoke. Prices are pretty standard. They do offer flights, which is nice. I liked the diversity of beer options, but found the beer to be below average (for national microbrewery standards). This place has promise though. I will be back to see if the beer has improved. There is free parking on site.

This place has the best food of any brewery I’ve been to. I’ve been to many all over the country. The menu was diverse and interesting. Pickled apples, jicama and radishes. You don’t see that everyday.

The smash burgers were great. Fried pickles also great. French fries were excellent. The service was equally as good as the food. Very fast and polite.

The beers were good, as I would expect, but the food was really on another level. I don’t live nearby, but if I did I would make this a regular spot.

I was really impressed with the space as well. It’s not in a very upscale part of town, but what they have done with the building is very cool. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere near St. Louis

Great selection of beers. Cool atmosphere. Terrible wings.

Came here for Wing Week. I’m going to chalk these puppies up to acquired taste. They were sour. They tasted too heavily of beer to be enjoyable. If this kind of thing is your bag then I’m sure you’ll love them. I also didn’t care for the hard, crunchy, layer of breading. Breading is supposed to be light and crispy.

2.1/10 Clucks only because the chicken itself seemed like it was cooked properly and of high quality. The sauce rendered them inedible for me, personally. Can’t win ‘em all.

I’m surprised I haven’t left a review for Alpha yet. We drive down to St Louis from Chicago every year and always stop here for beer, lunch and to see their brewery cat Tassie! They’ve figured out a way to make a great black bean burger that doesn’t fall completely apart. The sides are all good and I love their pickles. My husband always gets the smash burger and raves about it. As far as beer goes there’s something for everyone and everything is listed from light to dark, I think. The patio is comfortable and is a prime summer spot to hang out with Tassie.
