Loved this place so much that after having lunch here, we booked it for the same day for dinner. Alpenrose has such a warm vibe – cozy, rustic, and full of charm. The atmosphere is perfect after a day in the mountains: candlelit, inviting, and instantly relaxing.
The food is true comfort cuisine, rich and flavorful without being heavy. Everything we tried tasted homemade and authentic. Great prices too, given it’s in the heart of Vail Village. Service was genuinely friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish.
A great spot in Vail for a cozy evening and delicious Alpine dishes. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing experience.
The food was incredibly delicious, and the staff was very polite, attentive, and welcoming.
Honestly, this was the best food I’ve had in the United States.
I personally ordered the Coq au Vin, apple strudel, and sauerkraut — everything was perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and truly memorable. You can really feel the quality and care in every dish.
I would highly recommend this place to everyone. I will definitely be coming back.

The atmosphere was really cool and makes u feel like you’re in some old cottage off the European country side. My favorite thing was the little aesthetic added with the dishes. The little pot flowers and just the decor of it all was 10/10 . The outfits of the waiters were cute. The service was wonderful as well. I loved the lavender gin and tonic I ordered, as well as the German hot chocolate. I did not really enjoy the beef stew soup I ordered. It lacked flavor but overall it was a good experience.

We had an amazing, romantic dinner at Alpenrose. They gave us a beautiful corner table in the glassed in front patio. We had lunch in the same patio while visiting the farmer’s market last summer (open air in summer). The fondue appetizer reminded me of my childhood. The dishes were beautifully presented. The steamed salmon, noodles and spinach was delicious and enough for two. The only negative was that the food came out too quickly and brought out the salad we split along with the entree. Our table was too small. After dinner we took a walk and saw the gondolas that you can dine in behind the restaurant. They looked adorable and romantic- ask for one when making your reservation!

From the moment you walk in, Alpenrose feels like a cozy Alpine hideaway right in Vail. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is friendly and attentive, and every dish feels like comfort food done right.
But let’s talk about that strudel — flaky, perfectly spiced, and served warm with traditional flair. It’s one of those desserts that makes you smile with every bite. Whether you’re finishing off a hearty meal or grabbing a sweet treat after skiing, it’s unforgettable. A must-try for anyone visiting!

Alpenrose Vail has a really cool, cozy alpine vibe that immediately sets the tone for a great meal. The waitstaff is awesome and welcoming, the drinks are well done, and the food is incredibly filling in the best way. If you’re in the mood for a hearty, stick-to-your-ribs meal that still feels authentic to traditional German cuisine, this is absolutely the place to go.

Great authentic German faire with a great atmosphere. I grew up with a Swiss father that loved making fondue for special occasions and the cheese fondue brought him right back from the dead and into the restaurant with me. Will return on a trip back to Vail for sure.

We had a wonderful experience at Alpenrose in Vail, our table on the front porch offered a charming atmosphere. We began with an Alpen Spritzer and a small Alpenrose Pilsner, then moved on to the Schnitzel Rockies & Roses and the Zartes Kalbsgulasch – we ordered both with mashed potatoes. For dessert, we tried the Palatschinken and the Apfelstrudel – each was excellent. The food was authentic and flavorful, and the service was warm and attentive. Alpenrose is a must-visit in Vail for anyone looking for an authentic European dining experience.

The reviews are spot on! This charming German restaurant is conveniently located in Vail Village. Our server, Samuel was very attentive and hospitable. I made reservations ahead of time and requested seating in the patio which had amazing views of the farmer’s market and the mountain. The food was incredible! We got the Pretzel and cheese, Schnitzel with spatzle, Bergsteiger “beef” stew, and for drinks I got the Limoncello.

We came in without reservation but they were able to accommodate us which made us feel welcomed. Everyone was attentive and kind and it was really nice. Our server recommended the schnitzel and rosti ballchen which were delicious. The winter curry was definitely the star of the show though. The restaurant is very cottage core and we loved the vibe. All around one of the best experiences at Vail!
