Found a little gem in Lionshead! Warning!!! It’s addicting!
I ordered a classic hotdog topped with Samourai sauce and onions, which was incredibly satisfying, especially with the juicy sausage nestled in a perfectly warmed bun. If you’re a spicy fan, ask for a side of more sauce.
Accompanying this, I had a vanilla milkshake that boasted an ideal consistency; it was pleasantly balanced in sweetness, allowing for guilt-free enjoyment. This meal certainly enhanced my experience during my stay in Vail, and the prices were quite reasonable.
The owner was also very accommodating, readily addressing my questions. I look forward to returning for more, especially since they offer soft-serve ice cream and mini donuts as well.

Alpendogs is definitely worth a visit. The hot dog was amazing: soft but slightly crispy bread, juicy sausage, and a great balance of cheese and sauces.
The White & Black milkshake was the highlight — super creamy, rich flavor, and not overly sweet.
You can tell they care about quality and presentation. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it.

I should never have let my kids try this spot. We went back three times in one weekend. Brought to you by the owner of the neighboring (and legendary) The Little Diner, it’s a brand new even-littler-spot built into what amounts to little more than a corner closet with windows. AlpenDogs serves up … what I guess is Paris-style street-cart food? Who cares. It’s delicious. My kids got soft serve custard cones – mixing up their topping choices between sprinkles, Oreo crumble, and chocolate dip that magically turns perfectly crispy within seconds. I skipped the cone and got the Doughnut Sundae – frozen custard, caramel, doughnut pieces, whipped cream, and a nice cinnamon and sugar sprinkle on top. SO GOOD. I also made sure to try one of their French-style hot dogs, specifically Le Clark. The hotd og had the right “snap” to it, the bacon bits and crispy onions were generously piled on top, the sauces were flavorful, and the baguette was soft. This place is such a cool spot that you could sadly walk by hundreds of thousands of times and not realize what you were missing. My only negative in the rating is the atmosphere – it’s not much to look at or “experience,” as it’s literally a converted corner closet, but that’s what makes it so cool. Be sure to check out AlpenDogs while it’s still a small corner booth. Grab a dog or custard or mini-donuts for your walk along the river. You won’t regret it.

25 min and $34 for 1 luke warm inedible hot dog and 2 inconsistent custards from a rude owner. Would not recommend and will not go back.

We stopped in during a decent afternoon rush and I must say was impressed. The girl serving us, Stacey, was incredibly attentive and efficient, handling orders of donuts and custard in front of us while still taking on the line forming. Very professional, and the food was delicious! A classic dog and a cone of custard was a nice cap to a day on the hill. Keep this place in lionshead!
