A Hidden Gem in Hampshire, IL!
I’ve driven past this cute little corner diner for years but was never up early enough to stop in and now I wish I had! It has that perfect cozy, country greasy spoon vibe, and the food was absolutely delicious.
Our waitress (I didn’t catch her name) was so personable and attentive, which really made the experience special. She even surprised our son by putting a birthday candle on his waffle without us asking…such a sweet gesture that made his birthday extra special (THANK YOU DARLIN!)

We might just make this a birthday tradition, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend this little spot!

Wonderful place to grab your breakfast and brunch. Attentive service. Quick serve. Lots of options. Waffles are great. Eggs hash brown coffee – all good. You will see quite a few regulars. One of them had been coming here for 15 years. It’s a local favorite. Try it and you will be a regular too.

Listen… this place is a hidden gem for real.
Amazing food, a small-diner atmosphere, and a huge personality — the kind of spot that instantly makes you feel at home.

The staff was warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive — even on a cold winter morning.
That matters. A lot. You can tell they actually care about the people walking through the door and the food was amazing!

Allen’s has that true home-style, neighborhood diner feeling — the kind you don’t find very often anymore.

And let me say this… I’ve lived in Pingree Grove for three years and somehow never knew this place existed. I’ve driven past it plenty of times — blink and you’ll miss it — but now?
It’s officially one of my favorite local spots.

Quick heads-up for first-timers:
Bring cash. They’re old-school — and honestly, I respect that.

I love supporting local restaurants and knowing more of my money is going directly to the people and the business — not getting eaten up by unnecessary fees to big companies. ✊

Real food. Real people. Real community.
This place is exactly what a local diner should be.

One of the coolest places I’ve ever had the chance to have lunch! 104 year old history, and the owner comes in every day early and makes all the specials. She’s cooking the way her grandmother taught her! We will definitely be back. Thanks for the hospitality.!

Venturing into the countryside, I stumbled upon Allen’s Corner Diner – an absolute gem of a find. From the moment I stepped inside, it felt like stepping back in time to the golden age of diners.

Let’s talk about the food – oh my, where do I start? The biscuits and gravy were a revelation, each bite a perfect blend of comfort and flavor. And my special omelette? Let’s just say it was a flavor explosion that left me speechless.

But the real surprise came with the hashbrowns – crispy perfection on the outside, fluffy goodness on the inside. And the pancakes? They were like a warm hug from grandma herself.

Now, here’s the kicker – the prices. For the quality of food you get, it’s downright unbelievable. In a world where dining out often means breaking the bank, finding a place like Allen’s Corner Diner is a rare treat.

In short, Allen’s Corner Diner isn’t just a place to eat – it’s an experience. A taste of nostalgia that’ll leave you craving more. Trust me, you won’t regret making the trip.

Had been recommended to comw here by a friend, so gave it a try. I love old-school places like this. I ordered Half-order of buiscuits and gravy, which is one buiscuit. For $2.00 extra you get two, but honestly, I can’t imagine eating a full order, especially if you get other things to go with it. The biscuits are almost more like a pancake, and are soft and airy. I also ordered 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, & bacon with coffee. Sat at the counter, & there were a few locals there to talk with. As I said before, I really love places like this-old school, & it did not disappoint in that regard. As for the food, I know I gave 4 stars, but I’d actually put that at mid-high 3’s. The buiscuit gravy was pretty decent, and the buiscuit while good, didn’t have the traditional southern buiscuit texture that I prefer. Eggs were actually well done though I’d ordered medium. The hash browns honestly were kinda greasy, and I’d ordered them well-done because I noticed that if you don’t, they looked pretty pale on people’s plates. Bacon & coffee were good. Service at the bar was very good. Place doesn’t have many tables inside. I’m gonna guess about 8. So keep that in mind. Gets full fast. I didn’t get out of there cheap, was $23.00 for my food, & with tip $28.00. But I would definitely come back again sometime if I’m in the area & maybe try lunch. The burgers looked pretty good.

Americana Defined. This diner is a treasure. Seating no more than 30 folks the service is extremely friendly and engaging without being smothering. The food is great. Actually, it is flat out brilliant. If you are even within 30 minutes do not miss this opportunity to enjoy the role model for a Midwest Diner.

A rare find. Diner like they used to be. Great food, great service, fair prices. Only wish we’d come here sooner. I ordered a Bacon and cheese omelet, it came with hash browns with onions and French toast. My wife ordered the French toast special. We will be coming back here again. CASH ONLY!!
