After we sat down, a server came by to ask which broth we wanted. I asked what was popular, and he recommended the beef bone broth, so I went with that. My friend ordered the spicy beef broth after the server assured her it wasn’t too spicy. I ended up finding my broth a bit bland and later added some of the spicy beef broth to give it more flavor.
We tried different beef cuts as well as lamb. Honestly, there wasn’t a huge difference among the beef cuts, except that the filet mignon was leaner and therefore chewier than the others. The lamb was okay. We ended up eating more from the bar, which included vegetables, seafood, and cooked dishes. I really liked the corn because it was sweet, and I also enjoyed the chrysanthemum greens (tung ho), which I ate a lot of. As for the cooked food, the deep-fried crab was just okay. The highlights were the japchae and the tteokbokki, while the bulgogi wasn’t anything special.
At the sauce bar, they had a lot of Japanese-style sauces like ponzu, sesame sauce, and wasabi ponzu. Soy sauce and chili oil weren’t at the sauce bar but were located near the drink station. Speaking of drinks, the unsweetened green tea and black tea were also bland. They weren’t sweet, but they also lacked a strong tea flavor. I’d say the drinks here aren’t great unless you’re going for soft drinks. They also had rice available in a large rice cooker if you wanted some.
For dessert, they offer soft-serve vanilla and chocolate ice cream. My friend tried it and liked it. I had the sesame balls instead, which were okay.
Overall, everything here was just alright. With a $34.99 weekend dinner price, I guess it’s reasonable given inflation–if you can eat enough to justify it. I did feel like I had to push myself to get my money’s worth, so I’d only come back when I’m really hungry and have the appetite for it.
Even though it’s a timed dinner, we didn’t feel rushed. The staff were friendly and made frequent stops to refill our orders. They were even nice enough to stop by at the end to make a last call for orders twice by two different staff members.
the negatives:
1. the soup base is watery.. our table tried several of the soup bases and they were all very weak.
2. the meats are not as generous per serving as other places and small cuts.
3. they stick to the time limit, but rudely… we were talking and having ice cream, end of a nice meal and all, and the main waiter guy puts our bill on the table and just says “you need to pay” … that could have been handled much nicer.
overall, I would eat here again, but it’s not my in my top 3 shabu places.
Friday dinner price is $33.99. It covers all the items on the menu (there are three items for dinner and weekend only: ribeye, chuck flat, and lamb) as well as the various stations for veggies, seafood, appetizers, dessert and drinks. I was surprised to find a variety of seafood, like shrimp, scallop, clams, and fish. They even have Korean fishcake on skewers for you to put in your hot pot. The self-serve soda fountain has Pepsi products and they also have unsweetened green and black tea.
We ordered several, several rounds of the brisket, flat iron, chuck eye steak, short plate, filet mignon, ribeye, chuck flat and lamb. The ribeye is the leanest. We ended up ordering the filet mignon, chuck flat, and ribeye the most.
For dessert, the soft serve machine offers vanilla, chocolate, or a swirl of both flavors. It was more on the icy side, so not really my jam. I actually enjoyed their sesame balls way more (at the first station on your left).
Very impressed with their variety of meats and other things you can throw in your hot pot + the included drinks and dessert for the price. They were also playing lots of kpop that night (though some songs were skipping as if they’re being played on a Sony Walkman or something lol), so overall an enjoyable first visit to All That Shabu!
Plenty of parking in the plaza, though you might have to park further during prime meal time.
Because it is near my house,
I visited this place again on Dec 6th 2023. I paid 82 dollars for 2 persons dinner. I came on 3.45 pm . There is one female server told us that we can have three items only in one order. You would not believe that the pot had never hot until 20 minutes pass. Once we got orders,We ate it all quickly because the portion of meat is very thin even though the meat served in big plates. Nothing much in there. I attempted to order second round, the female server was trying to hide and look her phone all the time that she worked. During one hour, we got orders only three rounds of thin portions of meat and the pot didn’t hot. The stove is very slow. Then I got another young male server that offered better service than that stingy female server that just left her shift. I got told that we can order only last round because our time is end. It was sucks. I paid 82 dollars for rice on the bar. Bad service, expensive, small portions of meat, pot didn’t hot. Everything was so bad. Sitting waiting for boiling water, when it boiled, no meat to serve. They tried to make people eating food , rice, kimchi , veggies on the bar. Very bad and mad experiences . Food quality’s is poor. Bad service with that lazy service and bad attitude server. That woman should not work in service business. How can you expect people to tip you more? When you did not done your jobs well.
