I originally discovered this place while hunting for pad woon sen—a dish that was surprisingly hard to find during that stretch when we weren’t coming into the office. After my first visit, I was hooked. Even a coworker commented on how delicious it looked and now swears by it as his go-to order. For me, it’s all about that perfect balance: the glossy noodles infused with soy sauce, egg, and oil, paired with protein and vegetables.
On our most recent visit, we also tried the tom yum and fried tilapia. While I’m no expert on either dish, they definitely met my expectations.
Highly recommend this place for its inviting atmosphere, great service, and consistently tasty food.
Note on my rating scale: Sharing this for transparency, as I recognize that a 3-star review may be misinterpreted as reflecting a mediocre experience.
5 stars – Exceptional: Outstanding food, service, and/or overall experience. Truly worth going out of your way for. (For example, we frequently make the drive from San Antonio to Austin just for Uchi.)
4 stars – Very Good: Exceeds expectations in quality, service, or ambiance.
3 stars – Good: A solid experience that meets expectations. I consider any place with 3 stars or above worthy of a return visit.
2 stars – Disappointing: Falls short in food quality or service.
1 star – Poor: Not recommended.
Recommendation for garlic tofu!! 10/10
For our appetizer, we got the Crab Rangoons. I usually love Crab Rangoons but honestly wasn’t the biggest fan of these. There was an overwhelming amount of cream cheese and not much crab. For my main dish I got the Panang Chicken (does not come with rice- had to order rice separately) and it was pretty good! My boyfriend got the Chicken Phad Thai and it was also good. We were not super blown away by the food, but we enjoyed it.
For my drink, I got the Thai Citrus Tea. It does not taste much like a traditional Thai Tea (like I was hoping it would), but it was still very yummy and strong!
The service was just okay. We found ourselves waiting around a bit and I wouldn’t say they are the most present. We were bummed when they told us that they were out of the dessert that we wanted too.
The atmosphere is nice! Beautiful decor. The music doesn’t really match the vibe of the interior.
Overall, cute place to try out!
The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very relaxing and I absolutely love the low lit vibe with the music and decoration. Highly recommend!
Food was presented very tastefully as well!
I’d say the portions are a little smaller. If you order extra rice it may be smaller than you expect.
Decorations make really good backdrop for photos that I wasn’t expecting. You can tell they spent lots of thought into the decor.
They have an exclusive menu called “ Adventurous Of The Month “ that you can also order and feel like what really Thai people eat. I would recommend to try them out at least once.
Don’t forget to order their unique cocktails ! You will love it!
