Aliberto’s in Kemah has quickly become one of my favorite spots. I used to eat at their locations back when I lived in Arizona, so seeing one open right here by the Kemah Boardwalk and the ocean was a huge win. And they absolutely delivered, the food tastes just as incredible as I remember.
The menu is massive, and everything is packed with flavor. The machaca burrito is phenomenal, perfectly seasoned, loaded with tender meat, and a solid meal on its own. Their horchata is elite: cold, smooth, and the perfect balance of sweet and creamy.
Portions are super generous, prices are fair, and the quality is consistent every visit. And I can’t say enough about the staff, they’re always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely make you feel like they’re happy you’re there. The service alone keeps me coming back.
Whether you’re strolling the boardwalk, craving a legit burrito, or just want great food with great vibes, Aliberto’s Kemah is a must-stop. ✨

Where do I even start? I ordered a burrito and asked what was in it. The woman taking my order shrugged and said she didn’t know, then asked me what I wanted. I said beans, cheese, onion, and enchilada sauce.. basically a grown-up Taco Bell bean burrito. Then she had the audacity to upcharge me for every ingredient despite her not even knowing if the actual ingredients I wanted belonged in the original posted price of the burrito.
When we got home, the burrito looked like a prank: a literal quartered raw onion, barely any beans, and cold bag cheese. My husband’s burrito, which didn’t ask for onions, somehow also came with a giant quarter onion and nothing else worth eating. The tortillas were so hard they could double as flour flavored taffy.
The cheese enchiladas? Cold tortillas, cold bagged shredded cheese, and room-temp enchilada sauce. The rice was hard and tasted like it had been sitting out since last week. Beans were fine, but that’s it. My limonada tasted like straight-up powdered mix.
This was my second time trying this place. The first time I asked them to leave the avocado off of something or put it on the side and the man got very snarky and told me I might as well not eat there.
I tried it again in good faith as sometimes employees just suck.
This is supposed to be California-style Mexican food? If this is your idea of “Cal-Mex,” I’ll pass. Raw onions, cold cheese, rock-hard tortillas.. no thanks. We didn’t even attempt to eat it; we just threw it all away because it seemed like who ever made this food probably doesn’t wash their hands or carry any standards. Avoid unless you enjoy disappointment in edible form.
Pic is the third handful of onion I pulled out of my burrito.

Absolutely loved this place the minute I walked in. The menu is huge, they have so many delicious options but we chose the Super Fries & Carne Asada Fries Burrito. Both were absolutely delicious. The service is great, the guy at the register was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed and even offered to clean up after us whenever we were done (when we easily could’ve done it ourselves) The fries were absolutely delicious and came in a huge portion. The burrito was deliciously wrapped tightly with fries, carne asada and all the fixings. Also… a salsa bar!!! With plenty of options to choose from. Would come back over and over again.

New spot that I’ve been hearing a lot about. I believe this is Cali style Mexican food. The plates are huge. I was barely able to finish my meal. My son had a chicken quesadilla and my jaw dropped when I saw the size. Staff is super friendly. Their inside dining area is very small (this is a remodeled sonic) but there is lots of seating on the patio.

This place is amazing. As someone born and raised in Southern California, I haven’t been back in 20 years and miss the food. This place is great to get calimex food. Rolled tacos are amazing and exactly how I remember them. They also offer breakfast food and traditional Mexican plates. I will defenitely keep coming back. BTW 4 stars for atmosphere is only cause I wish they had more indoor seating but they did a great job converting this old sonic to work for them.

Oh! Em! G! Soooo good!
I can’t believe I found these fries over here!? They’re just like San Diego Fries! Except they add a little bit of refried beans, which im ok with. I hope I can forget about this place… For the sake of my belly

Good pricing for large portions. Everything taste amazing, the cucumber lime juice, the horchata you have to try! No fajitas here, it’s carne asada. We had the burrito de Mar y Tierra, burrito de chile relleno, carnita plate and a fish taco. Even the chiles en vinagre were the bomb, wish I lived closer.

Can confirm this place is fire! We saw them on TikTok and drove from Alvin to try. Burritos were ginormous! Tortilla was fresh. Loved the refried beans and also the salsa. Nothing is worse than when the food is good and the salsa sucks but this place had it all. Salsa was SO good! Service was fantastic as well. Definitely the best in the area and worth the drive.

As a native San Diegan, I have truly missed these flavors. As someone who has never eaten here or had this style before: the food is made to order, so even if you’re going through the drive-thru, you will wait a short bit; the tortillas are awesome; salsas have a punch and such good flavor; you won’t regret getting the horchata. I will say, the prices are a disappointment because they used to be half of what they are, even in California, but that isn’t entirely the restaurant’s fault. I have also missed having rolled tacos as an option on a menu, and unfortunately theirs were pretty crunchy/overcooked. However, I don’t think you can beat the size, flavors, and freshness of most other items. So glad to have a “berto’s” so locally! Go support them!

Ordered the #2, Tostado and taco plate. Meat had zero flavor and was dry. The shells were nice and crispy. The refried beans were the best part. We didn’t even receive napkins or silverware.
