Excellent quality ingredients with some actually brought from Mexico whatever you get, food or drink will be delicious and very authentic. This is the second restaurant from the owner and is absolutely incredible.

What a pleasant surprise. We were tired of Italian food, every time you go out, every restaurant has the same menu, different name. So we took a shot in the dark and decided on this new Mexican place in the intox shopping center. We were very glad that we did. We ordered nachos for the appetizer they were delicious. I ordered the spicy shrimp which came with rice and beans and my husband ordered the steak burrito which was stuffed and delicious. Food definitely had flavor. For dessert we shared a piece of Mexican cheesecake also delicious as well as head to drinks each. The restaurant was not crowded, service was fast and friendly, atmosphere was simple enough, nothing fancy, could definitely bring the entire family to eat there. I had the mango margarita which very delicious. My husband had Jack and Coke. Both drinks were equally proportioned for alcohol. The bill was reasonable as well. 4 drinks, 2 entrees, 1 app, 1 desert under $130 is rare now days. Without the drinks included prices were reasonable. We both left there saying we were so glad that we chose to eat someplace different and will definitely be back. (Nachos were so good we dove right in and forgot to take a picture)

Talk about a hidden gem on Staten Island, what a great meal we had at Alfonso’s Cantina. From there Queso Del Mar appetizer as our starter to our entrees Campestre Chicken & Alfonso Tacos to Borracho BBQ, everything was superb!!!! Thanks for a great dinner!

I enjoyed dinner last night at Alfonso’s and can’t wait to go back soon! The waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent. The restaurant was very clean. Also, the prices were reasonable! We shared the Choriqueso and then got the Shrimp Tacos and Alfonso’s Tacos. The portion of protein in the tacos were a great size. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh and authentic! Also, the drinks were incredible- with lots of options for margarita flavors. The owner, Alfonso, is very welcoming and came over to make sure everything was good!

WOW!!! This establishment is really good. Very authentic and great atmosphere. I love this cuisine and this place offers a great experience. The food is very fresh and delicious. Friendly staff and prices are very reasonable.

Clean and comfortable inside, I didn’t have any drinks but it has a bar with a specialty drinks. Didn’t get anything fancy to eat but what I ordered didn’t blow my socks off. Standard cheese quesadilla and a pork and pineapple quesadilla. Both were a little heavy on the cheese and greasy. Ordered a beef empanada and it wasn’t fabulous. Maybe they nuked it who knows. Honestly will go back and give it another try. Seems like a cozy spot and I’m sure it has some great dishes.

So happy there’s finally an authentic Mexican spot by my house. The tacos were delicious and I liked how I was able to choose between two or three tacos – typically places only offer 3, leaving no room to try other things. We started with one short rib empanada and one lobster empanada, both were very juicy and perfectly crispy on the outside. The cantina marg was also spot on. My wife and I had three each! Loved the clear coloring, shows that it’s not some supermarket margarita mix full of sugar. We’ll be going to Alfonso’s soon again 🙂

Service is mediocre at best. I took my 2 daughters there with my 2 young children there (2y and 4y) they applied a 25% gratuity for a party of five!! This policy is egregious considering when you have large venues the added gratuity is 18%. Money is difficult to make and there are plenty of other places like this on Staten Island. Waitress never even filled empty water glasses. Like I said I will not be their patron anymore it.

If you are looking for an amazing Mexican food with freshest ingredients, wonderful service and authentic experience Alfonzo Cantina is the place you must visit. Please pay attention to the low grades reviews, they are about anything like parking , too expensive, traffic etc, but never about their main purpose- great food, super friendly service and clean authentic environment
