We had one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had in the D.C. region last week. The food was superb and the antebellum inn itself is gorgeous. Not only that, but the prices were beyond reasonable for the 5-star quality of the food.

We started with the crispy pork boudin balls, which were delicious — like a southern BBQ version of croquettes. Then I had the braised pork chop with an amazing onion/bacon chutney, fantastic baked beans and mashed potatoes. My friend had the fried chicken and it was a show-stopper — truly the best either of us have ever had, and we are fried chicken-obsessed. She also had the mac and cheese — delicious — and the green beans, also fantastic.

The sugar cane/pecan ice cream was the most amazing ice cream I have had in years. I am still thinking about it. The apple crisp was awesome, better than my own home-made.

The chef here is amazing and could seriously be cooking in the finest restaurants in the country. Do not miss this place if you have a chance to go.

Lovely location. Charming decor. Fried chicken to die for! Everyone in our party got something different and all were delicious. We liked it so much that we are going to have our office Christmas party here. I’m sure the decorations will be fantastic as ND the food will be great!

Alexanders…Superb in my opinion!!! The manager at Alexander’s went out of his way to oblige a spontaneous gathering of over 35 guests. We even had 10 last minute guests and additional seating was set up on the spot. The staff were very attentive from beginning to end. They opened their facility during off hours to accommodate our schedule and provided us a menu tailored to meet our needs. The entrees were exceptional and priced right. This was a fine dinning experience with a country twist we will never forget. We would highly recommend and will be sure to return! Thank you from the Wysling’s!

Fantastic handmade down-home southern cuisine. I’ve never been disappointed here. Fried chicken is outstanding. Bbq and other meats are to die for. Try the fried green tomatoes. Excellent from start to finish.

If you want to save yourself $60 or more, try a different restaurant. My husband and I dine out often and Alexander’s was recommended to us. We ordered the southern fried chicken. It was the worst fried chicken I have ever had. The crust wasn’t tasy in the least and the chicken was gamey. The fried chicken at Food Lion is a million times better. The mashed potatoes weren’t good either and the green beans tasted very odd. The service was also slow. We were both so disappointed. We had high expectations and had hoped this restaurant would be a favorite 🙁

My daughter wants to rate this restaurant: my name is Alana and I’m 6. What I love about this restaurant is that I love the she crab soup and the design is so beautiful. But when I don’t like is that so far away from my house. I always go here after horseback.

My daughters love it and so do I. The food is great, the ambiance is great. I love being able to to walk the grounds after lunch or dinner or to sit on the wrap around porch.

Worst crab cake in Frederick…Lots of mayonnaise like the top of crab imperial.Seems as though the chef was trying to stretch it based on the size and consistency. The sandwich was made with the tarter sauce already on it. The brioche bun was over toasted and hard.I have enjoyed other items in the past, so I didn’t want to give a review of one, however the crabcake was a ZERO….Just order something else..

We have been to Alexanders many times over the last several years and we have never had a bad experience there. We brought my mother in law there for our family tradition of going to dinner on New Year’s Day and Chris Smallwood (the chef) came out and greeted us and personally selected a steak for her. He came out again at the end of the meal to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We could not have had a better meal and my mother in law could not have been happier. We were so blessed with this day because it was her last meal out, as she passed away just a few days later. We will continue to come back to Alexanders for the amazing food, wonderful ambiance and exceptional staff. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Tonight was my first time eating at Alexander’s. I wish I could’ve met the cook. Everything I had was amazing. I’m so stuffed I’m about to go for a walk. I had the fried chicken, she crab soup, fried green tomatoes (my first time and they were yummy) Mac and cheese, collard’s, cole slaw and mashed sweet potatoes. I would definitely go again.

We found the place by luck after hiking, so not exactly dressed for dinner with a teenager not exactly thrilled to be out any later. The staff were extremely welcoming and unexpectedly the food was original and scrumptious. As someone who finds Bethesda restaurants boring and over priced, and prefer’s to drive to DC, I was pleasantly surprised this place was so good and extremely reasonably priced. Looking forward to the next hike so we can go back.
