Dinner Disappointment at Smith Lake’s Alessandro’s
My husband and I were looking forward to a relaxing dinner, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish.
We ordered what was listed as prime rib—priced at $29—but what arrived was clearly a grilled ribeye served on a sizzling cast-iron skillet. Both the waiter and a second waitress had to go back and ask the kitchen whether it was prime rib or ribeye, and there was confusion all around. As someone who’s worked in the restaurant industry, I know that prime rib is a whole ribeye roast, slow-cooked to preserve tenderness and flavor. What we received was neither slow-roasted nor a 16 oz cut, as advertised.
To add to the confusion, the steak was topped with a whole jalapeño slice laid straight down the middle, two stalks of green onion, and no au jus or horseradish—standard accompaniments for prime rib—were served. The presentation felt more like a grilled ribeye with garnish than a traditional prime rib dish.
Meanwhile, flies were actively landing on our food throughout the meal. I was constantly swatting them away with a napkin, which made the experience feel unhygienic and uncomfortable. No staff ever came by to check on us or ask how our meal was going.
After trying to make the best of it, my husband quietly paid the $66.66 bill and we left. I don’t know if others have had better experiences here, but in the restaurants I’ve worked in, we would’ve done everything possible to make things right before a guest walked out disappointed.
I’m not posting this to be harsh—just honest. When you’re charging premium prices, guests expect quality food and attentive service. Sadly, we didn’t receive either.

The food is always lovely here. Not a fan of how loud the band is. We were seated close to the door far from the bar and still felt like we had to scream to be heard.

We stopped in (on vacation – from out of town) only a couple hours before closing and on a rainy night so there weren’t too many other tables in there.
I will definitely say don’t judge the book by its cover for this restaurant! It is a bit dated in terms of atmosphere but OMG the food!
The menu is very diverse: the specials were all Asian dishes; there are pizza and sandwiches; salads, tacos and various pastas. Literally something for everyone.
Our family LOVED the food; all of us had a wonderful eating experience here! We are keeping it as a solid option each time we visit SML from now on!

Great experience. We will be back. Varied Menu. The owner said he wants to serve everyone.
We got the pizza. Super thin crust. Could be just a bit thicker to handle all the toppings. Super yummy. We also had the Greek salad which was tasty.
There were a lot of people getting take out.

I ordered a loaded Quesadilla. It arrived hot, extremely loaded, the shrimp within were fresh, the chicken had been seasone and could have been a meal in itself.
Everything blended well and exceeded expetations.
At 20 bucks, it wasnt cheap, in reality, 2 people could have eaten on that thing. In my case, its gonna make for a damn good lunch today.

Tonight I had the worst experience with service ever. They were only 4 people in the bar area. I had to wait over 20 minutes to get anyone to come and take my food order. The ma behind the bar just disappeared. I could see him talking with the other waitress and not even checking on the 4 people at the bar. The one person had to ask twice for a to go container. That will most likely be the last time they get any money from me. This is not the first time I had a problem with the same guy. Even the person beside me said that it was horrible service. Then the person behind the bar is like I can put an order in for you. I was like nope. I will pay for my drink and leave and he said ok. Not sorry or what can I do it make this right. I am not looking for anything free, but if they were busy, I get it. But only 4 people at the bar and two people left shortly after I was there. Come on, they are not friendly people unless you are a regular. I am not sure if the owner or the manager even looks at these reviews, but they should.

Tried for the first time today. Server was very friendly. But we only saw her to get our drink order, take our food order, drop our food off, and bring our bill. Never checked in with us. There was no one else in the front of the restaurant but us. Only a couple cars in the lot so not sure if anyone was in the back. Sweet tea was over the top sweet and watery. Ordered steak and cheese and onion rings. Very good bun. Very thin on meat and no sautéed onions. The onion rings had a good taste but were mushy and too greasy. My husband ordered the white pizza and added chicken and it was very good.

The food was delicious and there is so much to choose from the menu. I got the caprese appetizer and Penne Primavera. I am glad to see a new restaurant at this location. My friend got mozzarella sticks and Chicken Parmesan. She said they were good. I look forward to trying something else here.
