The food is fresh, delicious without being overly seasoned or drenched in sauce. The dessert is also fresh, made on premise and filled with nuts (a lot of places skimp on ingredients, Aleppo Sweets is very generous, I always get extra for the road and gifting).
The service is friendly and prompt — like when you have questions about the menu, ask for an extra plate, when they serve your food, how they maintain the premise including the dining area and the restroom. While you do order at the counter and have the food delivered to your table and you’re expected to clear your own table, I’m sure it is helping them keep costs down. They haven’t raised prices for several years unlike most establishments since COVID.
It’s a charming spot. I can’t recommend it enough!
The cheese fatayar was a standout, seriously tasted like something straight from the Middle East! Reminded me of home! Hummus and bread were good portion! The chocolate baklava and kunafa were also delicious and hit the spot.
The chicken shawarma had good flavor but was a bit too drenched in sauce, so the texture of the chicken kind of disappeared. The chicken kabab was decent, but for $15, the portion felt pretty small, plus no rice included, and some veggies
The Arabic coffee was alright. It was a bit too dark and didn’t have the flavor we were hoping for.
One thing that threw us off was the self-service setup. We were confused about how to order, where to get silverware, napkins, water, etc., and ended up having to get up several times during the meal. There’s a small cart by the kitchen door where you return dirty dishes, get water, and so on, but it’s tucked into a tight corner and wasn’t explained up front.
That said, we still really liked a lot about this place and plan to come back to try more of the menu now that we understand how things operate. Maybe we’ll come at a less busy time next visit.
Staff – Staff is helpful and quick to serve. The Syrian roots are strong and proud here. They k ow their food.
Drinks – I asked for a recommendation to combat the hot day from the son working the front and he suggested a hibiscus cold tea. It was spot on what I needed and paired the wrap I got perfectly.
Food – I requested a custom made item not found on the menu. I requested a chicken shawarma and falafel wrap mixed into one. They accommodated me without hesitation and it was the best wrap I have had. This place does it right!
As I was leaving I asked for a mix of 4 baklava items of their choice for the road. The staff were excited to do so.
Atmosphere – The place is comfortable, open, and very welcoming. It’s clean and well cared for.
kabob, which were all also fantastic. Nice atmosphere too, and easy counter service (order and pay at counter and they bring you your food). And tea!
