Visited Alejandro’s, and overall the experience was just average. Service started off slow, as it took longer than expected to be greeted and attended to.
I ordered a carajillo, but it was overly sweet and felt rushed, lacking balance. As an appetizer, we had the queso fundido with chorizo—unfortunately, it arrived slightly burned and lacked depth of flavor. The chorizo itself tasted more like standard sausage than traditional Mexican chorizo.
For entrées, we tried the mole enchiladas and the Poc Chuc, a classic dish from Yucatán. I always believe that a good mole sets the tone for the kitchen, but this one was too sweet and the addition of tomato threw off its traditional complexity.
On a positive note, the Poc Chuc was well-executed—juicy, properly cooked, and the closest dish to authentic Mexican flavor during the visit.
Overall, between the service, drinks, and food, the experience was average. There’s potential, but it missed the mark in key areas.

Food and drinks were wonderful! Visiting from New Mexico, a lot of the food was familiar but executed very well and with amazing seafood that I wouldn’t be able to get at home. The birria fat wash old fashion and pulpo al pastor were my favorites.

I was disappointed by my experience. I sat at the bar and waited for quite awhile. I was going to leave but the hostess ran over and asked what I would like. I ordered a cocktail and same situation happened. I was sitting there for a long time again. If I hadn’t ordered a drink I would have walked out once again. I believe they forgot to enter my dinner order. The couple next to me cancelled theirs and 28 minutes later my dinner finally came out. Unfortunately I would not come back. The food was okay. I would have been just as happy grabbing a taco from down the street.

A little disappointed on the flavor part and layout.
Upon entering it is a cute place. We were seated at a booth in the front room however which is not intimate at all.
The area behind the hostess looked a lot more inviting and initmate howevee they were unable to accommodate once we requested to switch seats.
We started with the chips and guacamole which was honestly the best part. We split the carne asada and chicken enchiladas. Both good dishes however lacking in flavor completely on the chicken enchiladas. The carne asada was not bad though I did like that one.
I loved the curros for dessert however my boyfriend did not enjoy them the same since they were on the softer end.
Drinks were on the stronger end but still good.

Had a wonderful dinner here. the mushroom tacos were absolutely amazing, and the shrimp were just as great. The atmosphere was very nice, cozy, and felt pleasantly private, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed evening

Good service. Food presentation was great but flavor was really lacking. Ordered the ceviche, mole enchiladas and shrimp. The Ceviche had too much sesame oil in it which overpowered the ahi tuna and mango. The mole lacked depth and the chicken inside was dry and not flavorful. The shrimp was on a plain bed of rice and could’ve used a sauce. We ended up not finishing even though we were hungry, paid the bill and politely left within a few minutes of receiving our meal.

100% recommend! I’ve been back to this restaurant several times since I first tried it. The food is authentic and so flavorful. It is a little pricey but you get your moneys worth! The staff are very friendly and wonderful. The ambiance is fun and lively.

Price to food ratio was actually surprisingly well. Food was amazing and selection of drinks are vast. First meal on my trip to Monterey and they set a great mood for the rest of the trip’s entirety. Cute little cave sitting booths too were fun.

I recommend making a reservation or you will be limited to bar or outside seating if busy. We were still able to get seated outdoors as there are heaters in winter. Portions are large, ordered pollo asado and the tampiquena. Food was delicious and drinks were well made.
