We don’t get thru this way often, but on our way to the airport via Lancaster we made a point to start our vacation off here, and let me say The Ale House 1890 did not disappoint. From the service to the drinks, the appetizer and the main course was amazing. We already are looking forward to our next visit.

I’ve been back to this place three times now, and my initial assessment stands: The Ale House is awesome. Every menu item I’ve tried has been well-prepared, flavorful, and unique. The staff are very friendly. The service speed is average to pretty quick depending on the time of my visit – no complaints. I recommend their burgers and their rotating desserts. Their locally-made cakes are some of the best I’ve tried in my life.
Can’t wait to go back!

The food here was phenomenal along with our beverages from the bar. The price for the quality was a solid steal. This has been the best place to eat since visiting the logan/hocking hills area.

A fantastic experience and food was unique, suprising and well presented. Wait staff from the hostess to the server were just fantastic, friendly and engaging! It was New Year’s eve and they had a special menu. We left another restaurant when they were an hour behind on reservations, we are so very glad we did.

The food is really good, it’s on the fancy side for my simple tastebuds. I’m a very plain and a pretty picky eater however, my wife has a more sophisticated palate and she loves the food. We prefer to support small businesses and they’re more than willing to let you order however you want. I got the spicy chicken sandwich with pickles and ranch. Service was excellent and I get a ton of refills, they were all over it. We got the carrot cake to go and it was delicious.

Met up with friends on a Saturday at 1:00. Not that busy. Waitress was polite and attentive. I ordered the tomato bisque and grilled cheese sandwich. Sandwich was good, bisque was good but extremely salty so much so I didn’t finish it. Both friends ordered the fish sandwich with sweet potato fries. They said the fries were good but the fish was very thin. My one friend said her fish seemed to be undercooked. We all would go back again but definitely skipping the fish sandwich and tomato bisque.

Very nice location. Their lunch menu is in active until 4:00pm. They stay open late too. The staff were very nice and the food was delicious! I will definitely go back!

We aren’t usually the people to write reviews but we certainly always read them to make a decision on where to go! But we had to come back and write a review as we were visiting from out of town and this was 10/10!! We want to come back again. The food was amazing (the barnyard burger and chopped salad) both so fresh and tasty. The service was great and a really nice environment!

What a beautiful spot in the middle of Lancaster Ohio. It is a very nice building with a great vibe. They have a very extensive menu and all the food I ever had there was very good. They have roughly 18 craft beers on tap from all over the states and Europe.. Huge selection of distilled liquors. They also have a huge outdoor seating area which is very nice.

Lancaster is lucky to have Ale House 1890. We are home visiting family, we’ve been away from Lancaster for a long time and are astonished by all of the new restaurants, cafes, and bakeries available on Main Street. Ale House provided incredible service, and even better food. The liquor and beer selection is top tier and the prices are reasonable compared to big city prices. Our table ordered shrimp and grits, BBQ shrimp with risotto, burgers, mac and cheese, french onion soup, pecan chicken, and duck perogies. I personally sampled a bit from every dish and have to say they were all wonderful. The appetizers we tried were also fantastic. For a big table of 10 the food came out surprisingly fresh and hot. The wait was short, and the restaurant was packed on a Monday so that’s how you know it’s good. Any time we visit Lancaster in the future, we’ll be dining at Ale House 1890.
