Addar Restaurant was honestly a disappointing experience overall, mainly because of what was missing rather than what was present. When you go to a restaurant that claims to offer this style of cuisine, there are certain basics you expect to find on the menu. Not having mandi at all is a major letdown, especially when it’s one of the most well-known and sought-after dishes.
What made the experience more frustrating was the absence of dagoose—the essential hot sauce that’s traditionally served with rice. That sauce isn’t an optional extra; it’s part of the identity of the meal. Without it, the entire experience feels incomplete, and it honestly raises the question of why the restaurant is even positioning itself this way if it can’t deliver on the fundamentals.
That said, credit where credit is due: the fahsa was fantastic. It was rich, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. The texture, aroma, and taste were all on point, and it showed that the kitchen is capable of producing genuinely good food when it focuses on what it does well.
Unfortunately, one good dish isn’t enough to balance out the overall disappointment. A restaurant should be judged on the full experience, not just a single item, and missing key staples creates a sense of confusion and unmet expectations.
In the end, Addar Restaurant earns two stars. The fahsa saves it from being a complete miss, but the lack of mandi and dagoose is a serious flaw that can’t be overlooked. With a more complete menu and better attention to essentials, this place could improve—but as it stands, it falls short.
Food was phenomenal and generously proportioned.
We have the mendi chicken.
I’d recommend choosing another place.
