Albasha on Highway 190 in Covington is one of those spots that you end up craving after just one visit. It’s located in a small shopping center with plenty of parking, which is super convenient. Just keep in mind that since it’s on a busy stretch of 190, it might take a minute to get in or out depending on the traffic lights—but it’s totally worth it.
Walking inside feels like stepping into a little piece of Greece. The décor and ambiance are warm, welcoming, and beautifully done. There’s a separate bar area, regular dining, and the whole place is spotless—including the bathrooms, which is always a plus.
The staff greet you with a smile as soon as you walk in and are always very friendly and attentive. You can also get your food to-go, and the quality holds up just as well outside the restaurant.
My go-to order is the gyro or chicken shawarma plate. It comes with perfectly seasoned rice, a fresh salad, creamy tzatziki, and some of the best hummus around. The portions are generous—so much so that my family and I often split a single plate between two people. At around $21.50, it’s a great value for the amount and quality of food you get.
Albasha is one of our favorite places for a casual meal that still feels special. Definitely recommend!
What to order (seriously): Chicken shawarma plate, gyro plate or the combo gyro + shawarma, hummus with fresh pita, tabbouleh, and if they have it, the lamb shank is incredible. Save room for baklava. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and consistent, and the portions are generous.
If you want a go-to place for real middle eastern food (not European imitation) that never disappoints and you want to support a great family business, this is it.
Ambience is standard.
The Lebanese wine is dry, but compliments most of the menu. The staff are friendly and professional. If you want an especially nice treat, see if they have any Greek coffee available for dessert.
