Dining at Hoku’s is an elevated, extraordinary sensory experience. Elegant and refined, yet comfortable and relaxed, grounded in the Legacy of The Kahala.
While panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean may distract, the focus here is on the culinary adventure to unfold. Trained in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, Chef Jonathan Mizukami blends French-influenced cuisine with fresh local flavors.
Sophisticated Pacific Rim fare served beachside at the Kahala Hotel, plus a lavish Sunday brunch.

Visited Hoku’s at Kahala for Sunday brunch on a rainy day.
Although we reserved a seat on the patio, the staff accommodated us with an indoor table.
The buffet did not let us down with its premium price of $110 per adult.
The menu consisted mainly of seafood dishes, with a variety of fresh sashimi and poke.
The highlight was the all-you-can-eat lobster tails, which can be ordered from the table with the option of raw or grilled.
The grilled rice ball with tuna poke was also available to order from the table.
Both tasted amazing, and we were surprised by how thick each lobster tail was.
Though drinks were charged separately, we still enjoyed savoring the main buffet courses.

Sunday brunch is epic. Lobster (hot or cold) and ahi musubi are the best. The miso butterfish (black cod) is also stellar. Lots of fresh poke and sashimi. Salmon benedict. Prime rib, tempura, roast pork, and so meant desserts. Service is outstanding, especially Reyne.

5 star everything, food, service, view. The espresso Martini was double the size of what I’m used to and was delicious. Not cheap but had 4 lobster tails and a lot of crab legs, so I think that alone was worth the price. Very tender prime rib.

Food is good for this caliber buffet in Honolulu. Nice setting and ambiance and great table and restaurant service teams. Not overly extravagant but good variety. You would think for the price they could at least include soft drinks.

It was certainly in a nice area secluded. The location seems to be older but has charm. The seats were comfortable, our host was nice and knowledgeable, the presentation of the meals were well thought out. Portions are not huge however it’s fine dining. Certainly be prepared as this is not a cheap restaurant.

We did the grand tasting menu to celebrate our 25th anniversary; and at one point we both looked up at each other and asked “is this the best meal we’ve ever had”? And spoiler; it was. The staff is amazing and the Chef should be made a national treasure. We loved it so much we are going back to celebrate tonight for my birthday with my visiting children. Amazing meal, amazing service, amazing views. Absolutely could not recommend more for a phenomenal experience.

The view was jaw droppingly gorgeous. Service attentive and friendly. We went for the Brunch buffet. The food was amazing. Highlights were the crab legs, steamed lobster, freshest poke ever, and desserts. Best buffet I’ve ever been to so far. It will be hard to beat. I cannot say enough good things about this place. It was around $300 for two people with tax and tip.

Hoku’s Kahala was amazing. Rayne is really the person who made our dinner so special. She is the best server I had EVER! She is so genuine and sweet. I truly appreciate such fantastic service. We ordered from the 4 course tasting menu. Everything we had was to die for. We ordered the jardiniere, smoked Hudson valley foie gras, sautéed Kauai prawns, hand cut tagliatelle, the certified angus beef Tenderloin, lobster risotto, and mud pie. Everything was presented with beauty, and all was deliciously cravable. It was on a smaller scale, but remember, it is a tasting menu. I loved the foie gras with the pineapple. The jardiniere was so fresh and zesty. In the tagliatelle, you really tasted the butter and truffle. The tenderloin was pefectly cooked to medium rare. The lobster risotto was so filling and buttery. I couldn’t even eat my mud pie. I highly recommend Hoku’s to have the pleasure of being served by Reyne. This was the best meal in Oahu!

Brunch buffet is simply exceptional! Lobster and crab cocktail, ahi musubi with a lovely crust, local favorites, tempura, prime rib, miso butterfish… I could go on, but why? Come and enjoy for yourself! Don’t forget the lilikoi mimosas!

It was a birthday dinner
Hoku seemed to have changed a lot, from seafood theme to more contemporary fine dining.
The service was good, decent wine menu and the best part of it was the ocean view. Recommend to be there for the sunset time. The dining room color set becomes amazing.
We had 4 course tasting menu as this option gave us 2-3 menus to chose from each course. We were pretty happy with everything we had.
