This is the spot for breakfast or brunch in Big Rapids (probably great for lunch or dinner too). I drive all over MI for work and had a cancelled appointment in the morning so I had time to kill. After being disappointed stopping into 3 Girls Deli, I decided to check out Alamode Cafe instead. I am so glad I did! Super friendly service!(Thank you Emmarie!). Great menu choices too. I had the Breakfast Quesadilla with bacon and mushrooms and it was delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else in town. This beats them all. No contest. My only “complaint” is that their only hot sauces are Tobasco and Franks.

Alamode Cafe is a true hidden gem. I had one of their homemade pasties—flaky, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My wife had the quiche and loved it. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, and the service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We also picked up a jar of their homemade raspberry jam, and after trying it on toast this morning, I can confidently say it’s some of the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Wow!!! We were on our way back to Union Pier from Traverse City and needed breakfast. So I googled Breakfast in Big Rapids. Ok, first off the best staff! Jaimie was so kind, and she gave us each a small knitted heart to spread love! I literally want to live here now! The food was fresh, well flavored and came out hot! I had the French toast Benedict- soooo good – my wife had the shotgun breakfast and even though she had never met a breakfast she didn’t like she LOVED it!! We are leaving Big Rapids with a full belly and love in our hearts! Small gestures matter!

Jamie is almost always my server and she is FANTASTIC one could say i keep coming back for her but the food is absolutely delicious and amazing prices!! in all seriousness Jamie is a true angel and never fails to put a smile on my face!! We had such a great meal at À La Mode! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. You can really tell that everything is made with care. Our server, Jamie, was outstanding — friendly, efficient, and made us feel right at home. It’s so nice to enjoy a place that offers both amazing food and warm, personal service. The atmosphere is cozy and eclectic, the food is tasty like old-fashioned home style food with the most amazing breakfasts. Jamie, the customer service manager, is the sweetest lady. She goes out of the way to meet each and every customer feel special. She even sang to My husband and I on our anniversary. Additionally, I have run into the most friendly customers ever at this location and countering generosity every single time I eat here. Don’t go anywhere else for breakfast. You won’t regret going to A la mode Cafe!

Alamode Cafe is housed in an old house, right on the main drag in Big Rapids, Michigan. We ordered the quiche, and it was pretty good. Perhaps a bit too salty for my taste. The highlight, believe it or not, was the homemade jam. Exquisite! Not too sweet but tart and tasty. Will have to try some other dish next time.
Would recommend paying cash, as there is a surcharge for credit.

What a gem! Pretty, cozy atmosphere with delicious food and great service. Angie and Jaime were both super friendly, greeting us at the door and making us feel like we came to eat at their own home. Great value for the amount of food . Definitely a must try! You will not be disappointed. We will be going back again and again!

Ala Mode is the best breakfast restaurant I’ve ever been to. I go there often. I have never had a meal that wasn’t excellent. Today, my waitress was Jaime. She went above and beyond the call of duty. She possesses a personality that is made for treating people well and making sure they feel welcome and glad to be there. The food was the same as every other meal I’ve eaten there. Which is to say pretty close to perfect. The homemade raspberry preserves is outstanding. Could not rate this restaurant more.
