Best beef fajitas in town!!! You can tell they use very good quality of beef. Nothing chewy. We ordered fajitas for two. They make their own tortillas. Cool decor with nice atmosphere. Great waitress ( sorry, do not know her name)

First night in San Antone. The Alamo Cafe was across the highway from the Hyatt Place where we stayed.
Parking was easy. Hostess greeted us and seated us in a booth. Waitress was a bit slow. Not bad enough to complain but certainly noticeable. Maybe she was new but was in the weeds with just a few tables.
Dinner special #2 was very good. My wife enjoyed her burrito.
Fair prices for Tex Mex. Well come again.

We had noticed a bit of a decline over the last few years. But since it had historically been my husband’s favorite restaurant, we celebrated his birthday there as a private event. I was blown away. The food was as good as we had remembered in years past. Lindsey did a great job orchestrating the plan. Max, the manager, ensured we had everything we needed. The real star was our server, Marie. She ensured our 30 guests had never-ending beverages, tortillas, chips, and salsa. The meals came out fast and hot. Some guests were a bit late, and they were greeted with a plate as perfect as the first ones out. She helped me cut and serve the cake we brought in. At the end, I paid and got out of the way while they cleaned everything up. 10/10. It was an amazing way to celebrate my husband.

While they still make the tortillas fresh in the front (and they’re AMAZING ), the rest just wasn’t the same as I remember.
The rice was nothing special. The refried beans were good. The fajitas were okay — the meat was tender but mostly just peppery. Not bad, just not super flavorful.
The queso was good but the guacamole was very plain — no noticeable cilantro or onion. Honestly, it tasted more store-bought than freshly made.
I used to love this place, but it’s definitely not the same as back in the day.

Chicken quesadilla was fresh and delicious, our server was nice and attentive. The food choice is great. I may try spinach quesadilla next time.

Too Bad Nickmiester was NOT working tonight. HE is AWESOME – AVERY served us & her attitude totally SUX. Food was COLD-when it came out of kitchen! When I returned-she returned it back to me that they were out of corn torts! U had to ASK for flour tortillas, ask for butter – Bottomline totally FAILED to provide the Alamo Cafe Experience! SAD– people like AVERY should not be ENTRUSTED in this capacity.

You can’t beat Alamo Cafe’s homemade tortillas—whatever Abuela gave them that recipe deserves to be rich off it! The chicken fried steak is a classic and never disappoints. The atmosphere is better at the 281/Bitters location, but being one of the few originals left, this location was still good. (The San Pedro location should never have closed 25+ years ago.)
Shoutout to our waitress Olivia—she was absolutely amazing. So sweet, attentive, and really in tune with what we needed. She made our New Year’s Day experience truly awesome!
And let’s not forget the Shirley Temples—always on point. A longtime favorite for a reason. Love this place

Alamo Cafe was excellent! We came for dinner and had the exceptional brisket queso as an appetizer that Rhonda(great server) suggested! The Panchos were excellent with the beef fajita on top! We will be back when in the area!

We enjoyed the customer service here. Our waitress was awesome. So friendly and so attentive. She was fast too. Unfortunately we were not thrilled with the food here. The flour tortillas were salty. The queso was ok. The beef quesadillas were good. My daughter liked the flautas but she wasn’t a fan of the rice and beans. All and all, it was ok.

We’ve gone to Alamo Cafe my whole life and now we bring my kids! I love Marci and it’s been so cool growing up here and having amazing food and service that feels like family. I also love LOVE how consistent everything on the menu is. The staples are nostalgic and delicious and the additions are so amazing! And I am so grateful that yall brought back the original tortilla soup. It’s SO comforting and familiar and has a unique Alamo Cafe taste! Like a warm hug! And a great light option. Thank yall for all your hard work, effort, dedication, and for being a place for my family to gather, make memories, and eat amazing food!
