Phenomenal food!! We got the bread basket with garlic naan, keema naan and onion naan – it was very soft and tasty! We came from Toronto and love this more than what we have.

They waiters were very kind and on top of their game. The starter was tasty as well.

We got chicken malai kabob as appetizer, it was very tasty and soft. We also got the butter chicken, chicken salamar and the lentil soup. You can pick your spice levels which was very helpful! Everything was so tasty and we had so much left over, we would definitely recommend everything we got!!!

All of the food was delicious. We ordered the appetizer sample plate and I liked almost everything except the fried cauliflower (but that’s just my taste) and I really liked the sauce it was served with. Almost all of the appetizers were fried which I didn’t have a problem with but if you have dietary restrictions take note of that. The tikka masala was also delicious and the rice it was served with had a nice aroma to it. 10/10 would go back.

We happened to stumble across this place after looking around in the Museums and not even knowing what to eat, and we’re so glad we came across this place! The portions and flavor of food were perfect and the hot chai was such a delightful drink to heat up in a cold day out in the city. The Poori and Naan were flavorful and fresh and the taste of the meat dishes were excellent!

If we’re in the area again we’ll definitely be coming back!!!

We had a wonderful meal at Alachi Masala today. The food was fresh and flavorful, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. We loved the cozy feel of the restaurant and really appreciated their intentional focus on healthy dishes that cater to a wide range of dietary needs. Highly recommend!

Yummy food, great prices, wonderful hospitality. Grab the chicken tikka masala for creamy, spicy goodness. Don’t sleep on the garlic naan, as it perfectly complements the sauce. If it’s a cold winter day as it was for us, ask for the chai tea.

Alachi Masala is an Indian restaurant on the Upper West Side. The atmosphere is intimate and family-friendly, though the decor and space are a bit lacking. The food is tasty, well-seasoned, and spicy. The service is good, but not exceptional. The prices are reasonable.

If you’re looking for one of the most underrated gems in the Upper West Side, honestly in all of Manhattan, Alachi Masala is it. This place is everything you want when you’re trying to have a genuinely fun, cozy, delicious night out with friends.

One of the biggest perks is that it is BYOB, and not the restrictive kind. You can bring your favorite bottles of wine, yes as many as you want, crack them open with your crew, and settle into what might be the most comforting and welcoming atmosphere anywhere uptown. It is the perfect Friday night spot, warm, intimate, lively, and completely unpretentious.

The hospitality alone deserves its own paragraph. The host, the owner, and the staff made us feel like honored guests in their home. I mentioned loving spice and without hesitation they brought over fresh green peppers, onions, and everything I needed to dial things up just right. Their kindness and attentiveness transformed the whole experience into something genuinely memorable.

And the food is absolutely incredible.
The naan was truly phenomenal, soft, fresh, and addictive.
The paneer and masala dishes were rich and deeply flavorful.
The vindaloo had that perfect punch.
And the biryani was fragrant, layered, and top notch.

Alachi Masala is not just a restaurant. It is the kind of place where you lose track of time because you are laughing with friends, sipping wine you brought yourself, and savoring dish after dish that hits perfectly.

If you are on the Upper West Side, or anywhere in NYC, gather your friends, bring a few bottles, and go. Friday night at Alachi Masala might become your new favorite ritual.

Just the right size and cozy neighborhood place with delicious fresh food. Lovely hospitable people. And nice soft Indian music. Not loud, so we could talk! Everyone should support these kinds of independently family run spots, they are really precious.
