This little Italian eatery impressed me with its courteous and professional service, varied menu and exquisite cuisine. I had the rigatoni with spicy sausage that was piping hot in a marinara sauce with roasted red peppers and it was perfect. The bread was fresh and soft with olive oil and garlic. The atmosphere was great with a view of the street allowing for people watching and the server, Ariel, took great care of me and boxed up my leftovers for me. I would absolutely go back the next time I’m in town.

Good service, but pretty underwhelmed by the food. Solid portion sizes for the value and very filling, with a quite good caesar salad. The arancini was not bad. The fettuccine bolognese however was quite flavorless. Didn’t care to finish it. I enjoyed the well cut noodles more than the taste of the dish. Bread is bland, spongy, and cold, with plain oil added. Complementary, though.

The carbonara’s noodles were bordering on al dente. Not quite there. They could’ve used more time. The meat however was quite nice. Place was a bit packed and loud, though the servers were kind and attentive. The food is not enough to go back for, but it is an altogether “alright” experience.

Absolutely and utterly delicious! Breathtakingly good. Never have I eaten at an Italian restaurant that had me gasp at every bite.
It was clear and obvious the quality of the food and the fact that it was homemade.

See the video for yourself, the meat is actually falling off the bone. so tender, so juicy and riddled with flavor. A battle I had was continuing to eat more while realizing I was getting too full! Great portion sizes!

I’m counting the days until we return. The hardest decision will be to order what we got last time or try something new! I can only believe it will all be delicious.

Each dish had an incredible presentation. I just cannot get enough of the taste. Absolutely homemade. Tasted fresh!

You can visibly see how hard each member works and how happy they are to be there.

I’m ready to go back!

Wonderful spot! My wife and I stopped in for dinner and could not have asked for a better experience. The service was fast, staff were nice, and the food was delicious.

You’ll see the window of people eating but if you’re not careful, you’ll completely miss the door. The restaurant is small but open with 15-20 tables. We didn’t see a theme regarding any sort of dress code.

We ordered the Polpette (meatballs), Caesar Salad, Carbonara, and the Bucatini with Short Rib (special).

The meatballs were large and delicious. The sauce they were sitting in was also very good.

The Caesar Salad was large and actually came with anchovies. The dressing was fantastic.

The Carbonara was phenomenal. REAL, made with egg and guanciale. The sauce was perfect and had plenty of pork in it.

The Bucatini with Short Rib was also very good. A bit salty but after a bite of the carbonara, it was a welcomed change up. The short rib was tender and gave even more richness to the sauce.

With fresh pasta and fair prices, this place is a no brainer. You NEED to give it a shot if you haven’t already been.

Vegetarian Food Review: Found Al Volo on Google and went there to grab some dinner. Really liked the ambiance. The bread served was no good…. Soft and nor was the oil flavoured like it could have been with the stuff in it. However the Burrata Ravioli was a pleasant surprise thus the 4 star. It was simple and lovely. They did not have much option for nonalcoholic beverage so succumbed to my normal choice as Coke is the only option.

Food and service at this little Adams Morgan gem are flawless. Everything was perfectly prepared and presented. Small tables with an open kitchen make this place a vibrant and activated destination for signature Italian food that’s elevated with class not prices. A touch of home style in the dishes lets you know the food was loved while being made, but don’t let that make you think the food is boring or plain; quite the opposite. A great date spot, or for special occasions, happily it doesn’t feel stuffy or inaccessible.

A great experience! Authentic and tasty food with super nice service. Can’t recommend enough if you are looking for a low key restaurant with incredible quality. House wine always hits. Homemade pasta makes a tremendous difference.

Delicious authentic Italian meals and nice wine. Good service. Cute place, though small so reservations are recommended. Located in Adams Morgan, which is hard to find parking.
