Dine here and experience it for yourself now! I had the privilege of dining at this restaurant on Saturday night (12/20/2025) and the entire experience from the quality of service to the tastiness of the food was pure excellence! From the moment we walked in and were warmly greeted by a young woman family member, I knew this was a very special place. I felt like a relative being welcomed into her home and she had such pride in describing the way her family prepares the traditional dishes. And that pride is fully warranted. We started with a sample of the lentil soup—so delicious and flavorful—followed by our yummy fatoush salad and the best-I’ve-ever-tasted garlic mezze (toum)—the texture and flavorful were amazing. The rice is a dream and the shish kebabs of lamb and chicken were cooked to juicy perfection). We ended with their special homemade baklava—so buttery and truly spectacular. We are already planning our return! The friendliness of the family member continued through our entire special dining experience. So grateful! (Pics include my sisters’ entrees which were equally delicious)

First time here and I’ve honestly never felt more welcome at a restaurant. Sarah was incredibly friendly right from the start. I ordered carryout, and the fattoush salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. My wife and I will definitely be back. Five stars.

This was the first Middle Eastern restaurant we visited in Detroit and it set the bar so high.

Although we arrived right before closing, the owners were so hospitable. We ordered hummus, lentil soup, chicken shawarma, meat-stuffed grape leaves, and got baklava to round out the meal. Everything was amazing.

The food impressed my white girlfriend and me, a Syrian-American who knows his Arabic food but needs to work on his Arabic. We’ll definitely be back!

We recently moved to the area and came across Al Shallal. The atmosphere was welcoming and the waitress was super friendly, which made our first visit even better. We tried the Mulukiya from the special menu today, and it was absolutely amazing! Such a unique and delicious dish. We’ll definitely be back for more!

This place feels like being welcomed into a friend’s family home that warm, grandmother’s kitchen kind of atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. The hospitality here is genuinely heartwarming and makes every visit special.

Their soups are absolutely exceptional. Both the lentil and chicken soups are perfection in a bowl I’ve honestly lost count of how many times I’ve ordered them. Even my kids, who can be picky eaters, love coming here. The fresh salads are another highlight crisp, vibrant, and clearly made with quality ingredients.

While the food isn’t fancy or pretentious, it’s undeniably delicious. What I especially appreciate is their commitment to seasonal cooking. The specials change regularly based on what’s fresh, so there’s always something new to discover alongside your favorites.

This is the kind of authentic Middle Eastern hospitality and home style cooking that nourishes both body and soul. Highly recommended for anyone seeking comfort food that’s made with genuine care and love.

Listen to me when I say this has become my favorite restaurant, and I don’t just mean in Detroit. We decided to get dinner here the second night of our trip, and it was simply amazing. Everything, from the atmosphere, to the food, to the energy of the owners—it was all so wonderful. We went back the next night, and again, simply amazing. I’ve never felt so comfortable in a restaurant before. They made us feel like part of the family. Definitely coming back the next time we’re in town.
