First and foremost, the customer service was outstanding HUGE shout out to José! He does everything with such a cheerful heart and genuine kindness.
The horchata is a must-try—so refreshing and delicious. The food is full of flavor and comes out quickly. The grilled jalapeños and onions were amazing and perfectly seasoned!
They were also great about making accommodations for vegetarians, which we really appreciated. The tortas were excellent, the quesabirria was flavorful and packed with meat, and the nachos were loaded with toppings. The beans were super tasty (and
kid approved!), and the quesadilla was made with a fresh tortilla – also a hit with our kiddos.
Pricing is reasonable and fair, especially for the quality and portions.
Highly recommend – this spot is definitely a new favorite!
I’ll admit it – I usually don’t review my favorite spots. They’re already busy enough, and the thought of a two-hour wait due to viral fame is unappealing. But this year, I’m changing that. (Check out my other reviews as I start sharing all my hidden gems.)
In my opinion, there aren’t many great taco spots in Dallas. Salsa Verde is a popular choice, bustling with mostly Hispanic visitors due to its affordability and fantastic taste. Revolver Taco Lounge offers the best premium tacos, though at Dallas prices, and is tucked away in Deep Ellum.
Enter Al Chile Taqueria. With multiple locations, it has become somewhat of a chain like La Banqueta, Cesar’s, and El Tizoncito. However, this particular location stands out, offering some of the best-tasting tacos I’ve ever had.
Tacos: Not all tacos are created equal. While they offer the standard cuts of meat found at reputable taquerias, the cabeza (head), lengua (tongue), and tripa (get it crispy!) here are exceptional. These are cuts I usually avoid elsewhere because they often taste gamey, but at Al Chile, I skip my usual al pastor and bistec for these.
Other Food: For quesadillas, I recommend the Tinga (spicy chicken). If you must get a burger, be sure to add suadero (thin belly meat) for an extra kick.
The Flip Side: They don’t sell bottled water, but they do offer mineral water, various Jarritos flavors, and of course, Mexican Coke. The ambiance can be hit or miss, and it’s more of a to-go spot for locals. They always have a TV playing music, which adds to the atmosphere.
Pro Tip: There’s an amazing dessert spot next door, so grab a bottled water there before coming to Al Chile, and head back for dessert afterward. Also, sign up for their rewards program for a nice birthday discount.
All in all, this place is fantastic. We’ve brought friends from Monterrey, Chihuahua, and other parts of Mexico, and they all agree that these are some of the most authentic tacos in the area. The salsa is spicy (as it should be), but the tacos are so flavorful on their own that I sometimes forget to add it. Buen provecho!
Their toastada and quesadia are definitely fully stuffed! So much extra meat you can make another “taco” or 2 out of it!
