Our marinated free-range Peruvian style chicken is slowly roasted over a mesquite charcoal open flame and cooked to perfection! In addition to our signature rotisserie chicken, we serve salchipapas, baby back ribs and authentic style anticuchos just to name a few! All entrees come with two large side dishes of your choice, two liters of soda and aji sauces. We offer a casual dining experience conveniently located in downtown San Mateo off of highway 101. In addition to dining in, Al Carbon offers take out, delivery and catering! We have many side dishes to complete your meal and desserts you won’t want to miss!

I was looking for roast chicken, and even though I didn’t have much faith in this restaurant based on its ratings, I decided to give it a try. I ordered a whole roast chicken with fried yuca and coleslaw. All the food was great, and the green sauce they included was the best. This Peruvian chicken turned out to be the best I’ve ever had in the United States. The restaurant is also family-friendly, and the staff are friendly and competent. 100 percent recommended.

Very friendly staff and incredible food!! I highly recommend I highly recommend the pan criolla, pan carbonero, the pan huachana, basically all the sandwiches. I loved the chicha morada, mazamorra morada, the crema volteada, and the salchipapas too! Also their customer service is excellent.

The chicken was on point, the creams al gusto, the sides fresh, quality, and ample. The service so sweet, the atmosphere different and interesting. Fully recommend it, from someone who spent 2 weeks in LA going to 4 different Peruvian chicken places to be greeted by average food and service.
The only thing I can recommend is to paint the walls inside. Gracias Al Carbon!

Delicious! My family is visiting from WA state, and this food was on point! Flavorful with quality ingredients and even our picky three year-old enjoyed it. My favorite is the rice.

The lady who helped me was not friendly at all and I will said that she was rude. The container for to go was dirty and seemed to be reused. Food was ok but for my taste the chicken was burned. I will never come back or recommend this place.

Indeed wonderfully delicious! My sides were super tasty and everything came out fresh. Perfect food to take over to the park on a nice day! The menu seems pretty diverse so you can definitely try different styles of food.

The calamari was dry and hard, and the mazamorra morada was made from a packet store bought and not made by hand, it was chunky. The tables were not cleaned, the bathroom lights were not working and they did nothing to help.
