Authentic Lebanese food. The chicken, lamb, and pita bread were fantastic. Having spent many years in the Middle East it’s hard to find a restaurant which makes dishes perfectly. The service was nice and the atmosphere was just like being in Lebanon. Some people may say this is a rougher part of the Portland city but I felt safe coming and going. Would recommend and will be back.

Amazing people that work here, amazing food. I would recommend the lamb (meat) and kanfe (desert)

We were visiting out of town and it was one of the most lovely restaurant experiences I’ve had. The food was high quality flavorful Lebanese food and was also very nourishing and healthy for restaurant food. The service was great the owner was very attentive and I saw him give one of his regular customers dessert to go on him. The restaurant itself isn’t new and renovated but they kept an extremely cozy and intimate vibe with white table cloths and flowers on every table and nice warm lighting. I highly recommend this place if you want to have an easy going Mediterranean meal with high quality service.

We haven’t been here since well before the pandemic and remember it as having amazing food, service, and atmosphere – it still does.
I love stuffed grape leaves and these are some of the best I’ve had. The humus and lamb (bone in – always…) were outstanding.
The service and atmosphere were welcoming and relaxed. I wish more restaurants had this level of service (reminded us of being in Europe).
Al-Amir is definitely worth the trip downtown and should be on your shirt list of restaurants.

The best Lebanese food in the Pacific NW. Great food and great service always. Mo is a great guy and he makes you feel home at his beautiful restaurant. The roasted lamb dish and the grape leaves are the best. I go to Portland specifically to eat there and then comeback to Seattle.

If the food wasn’t enough, the service really pushed our experience to be exceptional. From the perfect wine recommendation to compliment our meal, to the extra care taken in helping us order the the right combinations to try all the flavors we were pondering from the menu, we felt welcomed like regulars on our first visit. We had the vegetarian Al Amir, which was a delightful tour of Lebanese flavors, the Khudar-Wa-Riz (the cauliflower was a table favorite), and the Krydis with prawns perfectly prepared. If you’re in downtown Portland, I strongly recommend you stop by and enjoy an evening here.

It had been several years since I dined at this Portland icon. I forgot how fun the team is and the food was excellent. I’ll be having the lamb shank again very soon. Our table included a vegetarian and a pescatarian, everyone was very happy with the options.
… and there was a belly dancer!

This was our first time at this restaurant and it was absolutely delicious, flavorful and fun to try something new. The server was very helpful in explaining the different Lebanese dishes and we felt the pricing was very reasonable for it and that delicious food that we were served. The restaurant atmosphere was very pretty. I have attached some photos of some of the delicious food that we were served. Parking was somewhat difficult and that we had to park a few blocks away to find parking. We also could have used a parking structure and that probably would have gotten us a little closer.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this place! Incredible food, honestly the best falafel I’ve ever had. We absolutely adore the service from Lydia as well, she makes you feel at home and welcomed. Wish I would have known about this place sooner! Perfect choice for a date night.

First off there are quite a few good Lebanese food places in this city, so the competition is high.
We ordered take away Kafta Kebob, Shish Kebob, Hummus and a salad. The meals came with light fluffy, ever so slightly under seasoned rice. Which in my book is better than soggy over salted rice, like at some places.
The Kafta didn’t come with hardly any vegetables that we had become accustomed to (maybe an incorrect expectation set by other establishments) and the meal was not on a skewer. it was a nice mix of lamb and beef and tasted good but didn’t have the kebob look. The Shish kebob was also off the skewer and tasted good.
The hummus was delicious with plenty of pita bread.
The salad salata al amir was good , nice nothing to write home about.
Visually the food is outclassed by some other places, but we enjoyed our meal.
Critically I think a touch more care in the seasoning department could go a long way to making the taste better. If I could give 3.5 stars I would.
So much potential, would love to see the quality increase a little.
Prices were in line with other similar restaurants.
