I use to work in this area 12 years ago. This was my place for sushi. It was fresh and the owner and staff are AWESOME!! But then we on strike and I changed my career when the union gave up. Now after all of the years I decided to return back to the area. My wife was at the Spa Castle the night before for here birthday. I decided to make reservations for Valentine Day. At 5pm when they reopen. We was on time and was greeted with a BIG & WARM smile. We was seated and given our menu. The restaurant was as I remembered the staff are still the same as before. That’s a plus for restaurant these days. The food is still fresh and AWESOME !! tasteful delicious. They had remembered my wife and I. Which tells you they care for they customers. We back again making this our sushi place. It was a joy seeing people who cares for the establishment.

Ordered for takeout and was blown away!
I always loved this spot but haven’t been in a long time, so glad we stopped by.
The food was packaged and presented beautifully and all of the fish was easily the best you can find in the area in my opinion! I haven’t been impressed by sushi like this in years! I’m so glad they are still around and serving amazing food.

I was getting the lunch special with my sister on 1/12 I placed my order and picked it up as soon as I walked in I felt the vibe was off as I’ve gotten the lunch special before as I was eating my sushi there was a small hair I left it and starting drinking my soup however as I was about to take a sip and grabbed a spoonful I saw a medium length hair and I was done I went back in and she told me it might be my hair, mind you I’m a hijabi I was upset and she gave me two dollars back after telling me she doesn’t know what to do with the soup she told me to take it and I took it and threw it out outside. As I have worked in a food establishment in the past if anyone ever found hair in their food we would refund them or make them a new order, won’t be coming back they have just lost a loyal customer.

If you are looking for wonderful food served by good people, excellent fresh sushi at a good price can be found at this intimate mom-and-pop spot in College Point.
We happened upon Akiyama while looking for dinner after most places in the area had closed for the night. We were presented with a most enjoyable meal of, beef-negimaki, New York maki, wasabi shumai, una-ju, tea and plum wine … and a lovely after-dinner discussion with the owner and a regular customer. All of the food was just great: the negimaki was tender and flavorful, the wasabi shumai had just the right bite. Each of the other dishes also didn’t disappoint. We intend to be back … often. Free off-street parking and a warm ambience inside seal the deal. In a city swimming in sushi restaurants, this little gem, tucked away in the northeastern corner of Queens is one not to be missed.

We came here with Mommy and her aide. It was a nice little place. This is not a traditional Japanese restaurant, but it serves pretty good Japanese food. Lunch has good value due to their bento box. Winnie and Sherry served our table, and they were lovely to talk to. I had yaki udon. Mommy had salmon teriyaki. Her aide had a tempura box. Hubby had a katsu box. The ginger dressing for the salad was awesome. Each bento box includes a California roll but my noodle came with it too. Overall, the experience was pretty good. We don’t mind coming back.

Had dinner here and the food was pretty good. I would say though, the wait time for the food was pretty long. There was a freshly lit candle next to us and we watched the whole thing blow out by the time the food was served. Waiters are very nice though.

Was looking for a new place to try out in this part of town and stumbled upon this Japanese restaurant. Thought I got lost since the restaurant was somewhat located next to a strip of stores and across the street from a mall. The service is good. They refilled my cup of tea without me asking for a refill, but I must say the food is just mediocre. The pork strips in the tonkatsu was hard to chew even though the cutlet was thin. The shrimp in the shrimp tempura maki was non-existent. I was eating rice with seaweed and tempura crunch. The beef in the beef teriyaki was quite thick as well resulting in the necessity of using a knife to cut the beef into smaller pieces. The shrimp tempura appetizer came with a hot soup for dipping, which was nice. It made eating the shrimp tempura manageable instead of biting into oil as one may experience sometimes. Overall, I would skip this place as there are other Japanese restaurants that are better in my opinion, but if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat in the area, it’ll satisfy your hunger.

Nice quaint Japanese restaurant. My third time coming to this restaurant,it’s around our neighborhood. Nice decor and food was delicious. I had a combo dinner California roll, tempura with terraki chicken. Edamame for appetizer with a salad. Pistacho ice cream for dessert. They have a TV and ambiance music. The server was attentive.
